What would you have done if you would have been eating brunch with your family during this?

Wow

Re: High Cotton Protest yesterday

My god...and the customers just sat there. I would not of been able to keep quiet.

Re: High Cotton Protest yesterday

I would've calmly told them to go fvck themselves, pay my bill and walk out.

I don't understand the point. Did they research the people dining or the owners of the restaurant and tie them to the police in some way? Looks like a bunch of attention deprived idiots.

Wasn't the officer arrested? Isnt he being tried for murder?

I'm guessing these people just want to be on the news and we are helping by talking about them.

Don't understand what they're protesting against.

The North Charleston cop in question (I assume that's the incident that sparked this) was fired, arrested, and charged with murder. Even racial hack Sharpton applauded the NC mayor.

Too much time on their hands I guess. I would love to see these same folks go into some of the crime-ridden neighborhoods in Chicago and try this.

Good grief.

I would have gotten up immediately, found the proprietor or manager and asked them to escort these people out of the restaurant.

To go into a restaurant and circle patrons to engage in this type of conduct, this type of grandstanding, is making the problem worse. Considerably worse. These are nothing more than shakedown artists.

You admire passion and someone's desire to go to the end of the earth to fight and stand up for what they believe in. You also recognize people have good intentions. But beyond that, there are better ways to display the message ... a message that should convey that ALL lives matter.

My guess is they went b/c it's called High Cotton and they perceive it as southern. I don't know though.

The Ferguson protesters bused here yesterday and they are protesting at 5pm at N Chas City Hall. I guess these people don't have jobs.

Re: High Cotton Protest yesterday

They are protesting cops killing black people then mention Trayvon Martin as one of the victims? Who's writing the garbage they're reading? Do they think people are stupid enough to believe their crap?

Grandstanding is a good word for it. Also, infantile, juvenile, or immature. This is definitely counter productive. Its more a "look at me" than an actual attempt to effect change.

Re: High Cotton Protest yesterday

This day and time has some of the most disrespectful attention seeking individuals I have ever seen. Show some damn respect people whether it be anyone of authority, adults, parents, and certainly people eating not causing any problems.

Re: High Cotton Protest yesterday

It would've been great for one of the patrons to get up and start freaking out. They better be glad I wasn't trying to enjoy a meal there, I would've been pissed and I would've been loud and vocal about it.

Re: High Cotton Protest yesterday

How can I effectuate social change???? I need platform to get my message out to this nation. Something that a lot a people will stop and listen to.

I got it!!! Interrupt 100 people eating brunch in a place that has no significance to my point!

Re: High Cotton Protest yesterday

Future leaders of our country imo. When a restaurant is serving brunch while cops are killing people you just cant stand idly by.

This.

I am a Christian and when you see the street corner preacher screaming and yelling at everyone that they are going to hell you understand he's an idiot doing more harm than good. He's actually turning people away from his cause as he doesn't know those people's heart - only God does.

These protesters are similar in that they come in yelling and screaming with bad information to make a point that most rational people already agree with. They are doing more harm than good because people like me will not take them seriously. I am a man with a real job and I understand all lives matter, not just black ones. Grow up.

Re: High Cotton Protest yesterday

Black lives only matter to these people when a white person is involved.

They are not protesting in Chicago where more black people are killed by other black people than any other place in America.

Re: High Cotton Protest yesterday

To the person who asked do these people have jobs....isn't it quite obvious? I bet only a couple have IQ's over 70.

I wouldn't have been able to sit through it.

Re: High Cotton Protest yesterday

Can't waste a day when the night brings a hearse
Make a move & plead the 5th because ya can't please the first

Re: High Cotton Protest yesterday

Ya'll look at the bright side . I bet none of those people eating lunch got up after and shot a black person. So all that shouting and raising hell worked right ? ...... right ?

They're duplicating probably the dumbest aspect of what they did in NYC after the police shooting up there. As if only white people go to brunch...

And, Cris, unfortunately having these people removed would've only resulted in more publicity for this "protest movement." What they want is people to get riled up, and thus prove that they're being "oppressed." I knew a bunch of people in grad school who would tell others that they intended to be arrested at whatever protests they would go to. It's all about the spectacle.
