Former College of Charleston head baseball coach Matthew Heath has been charged in Oconee County with unlawful neglect of a child.
Heath, who lives in Seneca, is accused of pushing a child down the stairs, depriving the child of food on multiple occasions, forcing them to take cold showers during cold weather, and picking them up and throwing them to the floor and would not allow them to use a pillow or blankets in bed.
The complaint was made by the Department of Social Services, according to a report from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.
Heath was charged with unlawfully placing a child at risk on Jan. 13. The incidents occurred between Nov. 28 and Jan. 1, according to the report.
