Clarence Thomas needs to go

I live a couple miles down the road from the small community where he was born and spent his early childhod Pin Point, GA. Small black / gullah geeche fishing community that at that point was literally at the end of the road located along the salt march. Not exactly a "rich" area today, so I can only imagine that it was a tough life for those decendents of slaves living there back in the day. I find clarance thomas's life story to be very inspiring. There was only one pefect man to walk the earth and he wasn't named clarence, BUT he overcame a lot to get where he is at and i think he as been a , rational voice on the SCOTUS who has offered opinions well grounded in the constitution. Wow, FEMA to deny MAGA voters hurricane relief?

True story.

I was in Iraq for 15 months as part of the surge (07-08). In Jan 08 we pushed into the Diyala River Valley as part of operation Iron/Raider Harvest.

Our mission was to clear insurgents from Sunni areas near the Iranian border. Saddam gifted land to retired senior officers in this area to provide a Sunni buffer against Shia influence from Iran.

As we started to engage with the population we discovered the newly elected Shia government in Iraq had stopped delivering kerosene and other government-provided goods (yay Socialism!) to this area because these were Sunni/Baathists (Saddam’s political party for you youngsters) and the government felt its role towards these people was to punish them not support them. Part of clearing insurgents is engaging with the local non-insurgent population to convince them we were there to help not harm.

We were well received in this area because we brought the first kerosene delivery in over 18 months (it actually snowed one of the days we were there).

I’ve been thinking about this vignette a lot because elite leftists talk about Americans who reject their worldview as untermensch (the “garbage” comment/the “deplorable” comment) and increasingly view government power as a means to the end of punishing those with whom they disagree.

This FEMA example is one more data point. Like @SGTiger pointed out the employee was reassigned and not fired. This tells us a great deal about how the larger government views this on the scale of wrong.

Only if you believe that LGBTQ+ is a civil rights movement = to that of actual civil rights movements of African Americans or women.
I have strong doubts that it would be that simple.

Anyway, I don’t see why the government has any business in regulating what adults do in bed. Whatever my two cents are worth. The issue is very far down the totem pole for me.

Disagree, seems like it would inevitably contradict the 14th Amendment.

IMO the gays have been unfairly lumped in with the crazier trans movement. Let consensual adults do as they please provided they're not harming others.

I’m starting it now

Buttigieg 2028
He's a smart guy. I don't think he'd win over Middle America, though. It's going to take the Democratic Party a long time to shake the perception (justified IMO) that they pick candidates on the basis of checking off a diversity box.

A Kamala slogan was, "I'm with her." How about, "She's with us." The American people are more important than these cheap, meaningless demographic milestones.

If that is the law in Louisiana so be it. They can always move to a different state. Always.

Now I'll go a step further. And a lot of you will not like this. Homosexual marriage should be a state's issue as well. And for those states that vote against it, those people should have to move away to get legally married.
There are a lot of laws that should be States issues. If you want to move into a red State then you should be prepared for Red State laws. The same goes for Blue States.
