While neither would be my 1st choice, we have 2 SC natives that are current DC's and have both been highly successful.
Nate Woody- Current Army DC/T.L. Hanna Grad
Nate has had really good defenses at Army. In his 1st season(2020), they were 1st is overall D in the country and have been consistently in the top 10-20 since then. His defenses are notorious for improving as the year goes along. The only issue I have is that he is a 3-4 guy and may not be the best fit for our current personnel.
Shiel Wood- Current Texas Tech DC/Spartanburg Grad
Shiel has been very good, everywhere he has been. He was just hired as the DC at TT after being the DC this year at Houston. He's known for having attacking defenses and exceptional LB play. I do have a few more reservations about Shiel because TT will be his 4th school in 4 years (Troy 2022, Tulane 2023, Houston 2024, and TT 2025). However he has gotten better jobs every year because of his body of work. He was the Co DC at Army under Woody in 2020, when they finished 1st in total defense in the country, and 2021.
I know these wouldn't be Dabo's 1st choice, but I'd definitely look at them if the situation warrants it.
