Oh my….just spent that much filling my car with Middle East Liquid Gold. Please those calling the shots in Washington open the oil pipelines in our country. This is insane. Not a political post…I drive a lot. Going broke!

What kind of car?

Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s much we can do domestically to bring the price down in the short term as long as this Russia situation is going on.

My car only uses 91 octane or higher. Premium unleaded has gone from $3.60 to $4.60 in the last 10 days. We were energy independent under Trump. Yes, it’s Biden’s fault. But he blames Putin for everything. 😂😂😂
Being energy independent doesn't mean we can control the price of gas based on domestic production.

Prices were raised over 2021 as demand increased with more people returning to driving, and because supply hasn't been able to get back to pre-pandemic levels yet. But the clear reason for the recent steep increase is the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

This is a good thread that's critical of Biden, but which tries to be fair about gas prices:

This is a bogus talking point, at least at face value. The United States has imported energy from abroad generally, and from Russia specifically, for years. For example, in 2020 our oil imports from Russia totaled 7% of overall volume whereas in 2021 that number was 7.9%. Now, you may mean that under Trump in 2019 and 2020 we exported more energy than we imported for the first time since 1952, and that is true. But the most recent data shows that the same was going to be true for 2021 (although as far as I can tell it only goes through the 3rd quarter of the year). But in no way, shape, or form were we totally self reliant in terms of energy under Trump, as your statement suggests

Elections have consequences. I was told to quit ranting about high gas prices when there are people who are fighting for their life in Ukraine.

I’ll take “2 Things that would’ve never happened for $1000 Alex”

It won’t be going down anytime soon op. It’ll get higher.

I don’t think I’ve ever looked to see what I’m paying at the pump though. I just fill it up until it stops, pay and drive off. What else can you do?

Short term? The nuts could at least give us hope for the long term. In case this is not your area of expertise, futures do impact current pricing. Dropping the exorbitant taxation would help a bunch and the moratorium on exploration on federal lands would also help, Just think if Obama hadn't stopped the Keystone....it would be supplying us with almost a million barrels a day of North American oil today.....not to mention the Alaska reserves. I'm sure you agree the progressives have crushed average Americans, right? Time for common sense conservatives to get us on the right path finally. Spread the word up there in la la land.

Buy a horse. But the hay prices will go up because the price of fertilizer is out of the roof.

Lol get a clue
When I hear politicians say you should buy an electric car if you dislike the gas prices I just cannot fathom how they think a person complaining about the price of gas can suddenly afford a car payment. Also when Biden has spoke many times about going green on everything I think they actually enjoy the prices going up. It gives them a talking point. Sad but true. Both sides use issues that hurt the middle class to push their agenda. F DC!

Yep. The US produces a little over 14.8 million barrels of oil per day.

The US consumes a little over 19.6 million barrels of oil per day.

Keystone would have maxed out around 0.86 million barrels of oil per day.

1.62 with Trump 4 with Biden.
No Russian war with Trump Biden well you know
We're not at war with Russia. That ain't going to happen. And if you actually think Putin wouldn't have "dared" to invade Ukraine if Trump was Prez. you don't know Putin.

Let’s see… I didn’t say we were at war. I said Russian war. And I can 100% say Putin did not invade Ukraine when Trump was president

Not do you. Putin thought Trump was crazy enough to "push the button". Not sure if he was wrong. We won't get to see it now.
Neither Trump or Putin are crazy enough to push the button. BTW I think Trump has more to fear from Putin than Putin from Trump. Otherwise, trump wouldn't be referring to Putin as "Genius" and seemingly kissing his ass at every opportunity

Trump seems to appreciate what Putin gets away with. Trump lost my vote after he lost. Threw a temper tantrum. Had Trump's policies been carried out by...let's say George W....W would be claimed a genius. Trump's economic and foreign policy were solid.

I just don't care for a President that brings in illegal immigrants and forgives loans(agreed to by the student and family) in the dark of night. No balls to do it in daylight. No fvcking common sense whatsoever.

Student loans haven't been forgiven. Repayment has been put on hold until May 2022. FWIW I think forgiving a loan sends a bad message. You borrowed it therefore you should pay it back. Maybe cut the interest a bit but still pay it off.

Tell me about executive order Don. Biden would have to keep up nearly his current pace for another 2.5 years to hit those numbers. Unparalleled since Carter.
