A culture change I’ve noticed with media

Has anyone else noticed that Media outlets are no longer labeling sports by gender?

For instance, I have YTTV and in the past when scrolling through channels, a sporting event would be labeled as specifically “Lady Vols vs. Alabama basketball” and the picture icon was different for women’s sports. Now it will just show “UT vs. Bama” and you have to click on it to find out if it’s men’s or women’s.

This morning on ESPN they had a story “OU’s Coale retires....” I click to find it’s the ladies basketball coach.

I’m waiting for USMNT to not be an appropriate name for the Men’s National Team.

I am curious as to why this has changed?
