This comes in this evening from Gavin Oliver, who worked with Larry at practice this evening. Gavin, as you know, also worked with us last fall in Death Valley on game days.

As Larry mentioned earlier today, safety Jadar Johnson was wearing a yellow jersey at practice today. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said Johnson had "a little moped scuffle, but should be alright."

Asked if he would ultimately ban mopeds from the team, his response: "Never. They have to handle their business. Wear helmets and be safe whether you're in a car or a moped or a bike. Sometimes there are things you don't control. I ride a moped, wear a helmet. I cruise all over town and nobody knows who I am. I love it. It's fun."

Swinney called practice last week a "tough couple of practices." He said today coaches focused on fundamentals, a lot of thud work, goal line work.

"Just trying to get them ready for this big scrimmage on Wednesday," he said.

Wednesday's workout will be the last this week, as coaches are giving players Thursday and Friday off.

Swinney said No. 4 should be ready to go once the first session of summer workouts begin in late May.

"Once we get back going in summer one, he'll be able to go back and do all the skills and drills stuff. He'll be able to do it all. They'll have a plan for him as far as his weightlifting. He looks great."

Swinney on Tyrone Crowder: "Great improvement, tremendous improvement. A big, big step from where he was this time last year. We're very encouraged with him. He's going into his red-shirt sophomore year and he's where we hoped he would be. He's where we need him to be. He's a good football player. He's grown up a ton. His body is in good shape. He's done a nice job of buying into the conditioning job of what we need. He's obviously very strong. Very confident."

Swinney on the offensive line:

"I'm really pleased with our offensive line, as excited as I've been about them in my 12 years here. That first group has the chemistry, desire, toughness, knowledge, they're doing a nice job for us. You flip behind them and those four freshmen ... they're not ready to be great players today but man they want to be. You know they're doing everything that they can to improve. We've got a whole room of guys who are fully committed. That's a great place to be. Mitch Hyatt is very, very close to that (first) group. I think Fruhmorgen is coming as well. Noah Green has all the tools as well. Zach Giella ... it's probably been a bigger transition for him. He's got all the tools as well. He's working some center and guard as well. All four of those guys can flat out play."
