Encourage everyone to listen to the Oct 4th "Unraveling" podcast from Jocko Willink and Darrell Cooper, specifically when he reads out the text messages from the Marines on the ground back to the stateside Marines. Appalling leadership and zero accountability that resulted in 13 lives lost, not to mention civilians from an errant drone strike. This should warrant a full investigation from the top down but we are still too busy trying to find evidence of a Jan 6th planned coup........
A few cliff notes:
-Our security details were assigned to base cleanup detail, picking up trash and washing the walls to remove any harsh language against ISIS or the Taliban (a General canceled an exfill flight out because the base wasn't clean enough)
-We knew the suicide bomber was coming for several days but when ground forces requested to push the security perimeter out to mitigate the risk, it was denied.
-The Taliban had double digit armored vehicles with mounted DShK heavy machine guns surrounding our perimeter but the request for heavy weapon assets like Carl G's, ISR's, etc were all denied. Fire teams didn't even have radios, they were instructed to send runners in the event of a contact. (WTF?????)
-When the perimeter was breached by the Taliban, we instructed our forces to continue with the cleanup effort instead of security posturing
-Our ground forces were instructed to let EVERYONE in, not just citizens, green card holders or visa holders..........solely to hit the "people" quota the white house was touting as the largest people exfill in history
