I was supposed to play in a three-man scramble charity golf tournament this morning, but my brother had to back out.

So, I figured let’s do an AMA here. Many of you enjoyed the one from Larry Williams and inquired about what I said in the AMA I did for Tiger Illustrated.

Ask me anything
Perhaps: Georgia football, game vs. Clemson, SEC, status of journalism/media, Athens food, state of Georgia (I’ve lived everywhere in the state other than mountains and swamp), dad life.
I specially welcome detailed analysis of Curb Your Enthusiasm and the music video for Alan Jackson’s “Chattahoochee.”

One of my good friends refers to the Varsity as his source for “Vitamin G” for grease.

Honestly, I’m in the crowd that finds the food overrated. I feel awful after eating and it takes a year to forget and try again.

Cheeseburger and onion rings.

Difference makers are defensive line disrupters and linebacker speed.
Don’t discount the skull sessions and team connection. That only translates to wins when the team is full of amazing athletes though. Georgia is

We obviously have different opinions on some things. Overall, I think we all agree Georgia is among the most talented teams in the country and has a path to cruise through the East to Atlanta. Who knows from there. That’s essentially a quarterfinals. It takes three straight wins against great teams from there. Georgia can do that. Georgia could also falter. Takes a little luck at that stage

1) Yes. Taking the lead from Larry Williams on this one. That’s an awful situation and not one that can be ignored.

2) His blocking will be missed as much as his playmaking. John Fitzpatrick’s availability would greatly help. Otherwise, get to the edge and rely on some WR blocking.

I don’t watch many movies to begin with and always prefer documentaries to fictional stuff. I’m the same with biographies over fiction in books. Combine that with having a 3yo and 1yo — we are as likely to watch Moana every day.

Soul, the Pixar movie was fantastic. It’s more an adult movie though, I think. It’s trippy. Last weekend, I binged Cocaine Cowboys on Netflix. It’s about drug lords in Miami in the 80s-90s. It was well done.

Im pumped for the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm and the final season of Ozark

Burton and Jackson are fine. Blaylock is making progress quickly, but simply cannot rush him based on what he’s been through the last two years. Arian Smith has his turf toe. That’s a nagging one. Wouldn’t consider him 100%.

John Fitzpatrick has his foot sprain. Dude is tough as hell and I expect him to play. We’ll see. Nothing new on Gilbert. I’d say relying on him is not good management. Maybe he surprises and delights. I don’t anticipate it.

Burton, Rosemy-Jacksaint, Jackson, Mitchell, Smith is the likely dudes for this game out wide

Absolutely. One of the best in the country along with Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Ohio State.
I think you can bank three of those five in the CFP.

The other “contenders” just feel like a different playing field: Notre Dame, Oregon, UNC, UCF, Miami.

Georgia is a top tier program.

Assuming all would be healthy:
CB - Kendrick and Ringo (Kimber next up)
S - Cine and Smith
Star - Brini (with Adam Anderson in packages)

Kid friendly to me includes being able to park nearby. Brett’s on ATL Highway is great for that. Cali and Tito’s on the east side too.

Adult restaurant: my favorite is Trapeze downtown. Great variety

So I didn’t have my first alcoholic beverage until I was 25 years old. It is good in the sense that I just missed out on really cheap, awful beer. One of my best friends was once the bartender at the Auburn Hotel. He introduced me to good booze by taking things I liked and giving me the boozy version. White Russian and Tom Collins are my favorite mixed drinks. Boozy milkshake and boozy lemonade.

I don’t really enjoy beer. It just feels so heavy to me. Probably because I tend to lean to porters and stouts. I do love bourbon. Eagle rare is great with its vanilla notes. I’m currently on Fiddler unison out of Atlanta. Very smooth.

I think both defensive lines have an advantage over the opposing offensive lines, but Georgia’s offensive line is closer to holding its own than Clemson’s

How frustrating is it to be a beat reporter journalist focused on a football team where your access to practices and players interviews is so limited and legit investigative journalism is frowned upon, or is it simply the only situation you know?

*Us ouldes can well recall the pre Kirby and pre camera phone days.

I’m neutral. I think he’s a very good recruiter but average/ below average tactician. He’s not great at hiring coordinators and his QBs aren’t great. Those are two of the biggest metrics.

I also think we’re about to lose to Clemson. Hope I’m wrong.

Not the case at all. He is one of the best program builders and coaches in America.

I am a big fan of how he uses his platform and resources to help the university beyond sports.

I’ve heard private stories about how attentive and compassionate he his, especially to those close to him dealing with family hardships. He is genuinely a decent and caring guy.

I don’t like his media policies from a journalism standpoint and would advise him from a PR perspective that his decisions in that regard cause more problems than they prevent. We have different objectives though.

The Richt days were better for sure in terms of access and storytelling. I don’t care how frowned upon investigative journalism is, when it’s required we do it.
I wish athletics would realize we just want to tell the human stories of these players and coaches. We’re not about sharing state secrets and this is a game. We want to have fun. It’s why we chose to cover sports instead of politics or policy.
Players are literally encouraged to be disingenuous and scrub their personalities before speaking with media. That’s a shame because their stories and personalities deserve a spotlight.
Id much rather have a player break down their Waffle House order or tell me about their grandmother than ask who is set to be the backup free safety.

1) Yes. Taking the lead from Larry Williams on this one. That’s an awful situation and not one that can be ignored.

2) His blocking will be missed as much as his playmaking. John Fitzpatrick’s availability would greatly help. Otherwise, get to the edge and rely on some WR blocking.
Do you see suspension for Fred Davis? Dabo has really been pushing the narrative of Clemson having rules about misdemeanors and handling it internally

Dabo is not going to suspend one of his best DBs for this game. Foolish to think he will. He might suspend him for the first conference game, but they will have all players available Saturday.

Honestly, I’m in the crowd that finds the food overrated. I feel awful after eating and it takes a year to forget and try again.

The correct answer is either the Achilles wasn't actually torn or Dabo is FOS. I tend to lean towards the latter. Let's hit ukele really hard and find out.

Our official predictions will publish Friday.
It really could go either way, but I will be picking Clemson because of the trends I detailed in this story:
uga.rivals.com

UGASports - Want to win a top-5 game? You better have the best QB

Dayne Young analyzes recent history to assess JT Daniels and D.J. Uiagalelei ahead of Georgia vs. Clemson.
uga.rivals.com
uga.rivals.com
This isn’t a shot. I could very well be wrong and Georgia is fully capable of winning. Georgia is good enough to beat every team in CFB

So we’re to assume you think DJ is the far superior NFL draft choice over JT but you didn’t say that in the column. Guess that’s why they play the games, but I still believe future draft spot can be different result when one for this game is older and more experienced as is JT here.

Why does Kirby constantly get hammered with “can’t win the big games”, yet Lincoln Riley completely gets a pass?

For the record…the Big 12 Championship Game isn’t a “big game”

Because OU has been more explosive on O and lost in the CFP instead of the SECCG. Its BS perception

I think this is fair but only on offense really. His defensive hires have been solid. Luckily, if he can learn from mistakes, he can still be one of the best.

That is my stance, yes. But the data is presented in a way so others can assess for themselves. I wanted to present the trend and allow for opinions after.

Totally agree that a great performance in a game like this catches the eyes of scouts and pundits

In your opinion, is making the CFB playoffs once every five years acceptable for the head coach at UGA? Two times per decade?
If it wasn’t for Alabama, he’d have a natty and 3 playoff appearances - maybe 3 natty’s 🤷‍♂️

That could be considered an excuse, but this Alabama program under Saban is the greatest of all-time.

Did UGA recruit GT commit Horace Lockett (Defensive Tackle)? Given UGA recruitment of DTs, do you think they will recruit him? What are your thoughts on him as a DT?
