I'll admit I got on board with the Tampa Lightning this year, my rookie year as a nhl fan. Have hardly ever watched Hockey in my life before going to a game this year. But am pretty fired up right now over my Bolts going up 2-1 last night with the road win in Chicago. What a game!
If you enjoy pulling for the underdog, pulling for the team the status quo hates, the announcers hate, the nhl media hate, then Tampa is your team. We play great defense, have tremendous team speed, and we never stop attacking until the horn blows.
This years playoffs in general have been incredible. Actually I can't believe Tampa even has any gas left in the tank. All 3 series we've had have gone 7 games, but we are 8-3 on the road this year in the playoffs. Getting home ice back last night was huge though. Can't wait for them to come back home Saturday night.
Amalie arena where the Bolts play is built right on the Bay. If you don't have tickets there is an awesome way to still be apart of the action, outside the arena is an area where they set up a giant big screen. Where fans can show up and bring chairs and tailgate at the outside bar area. Up to 15k fans have been showing up to watch outside the arena. Just an Incredible atmosphere to watch a game.
