Any thoughts on how to convince a sick COVID anti-vaxxer to get seen by a non-antivaxx doctor?

That wasn’t a knock on you…I said there is always some good advice but often times these threads go sideways…hopefully you get answers that help. I wasn’t trying to be a dick

If I was I wouldn’t have shared the experience I just dealt with last week with a friend who was in a similar spot
You can say "I wasn't trying to be a dick" yet you were still being a dick. Just saying.
1. Pretty sure he has been vaccinated
2. I’ve never been anti-vax. Have helped lots of people get theirs when they wanted it and it wasn’t yet readily available
3. I don’t like vaccine mandates. Should be a persons choice whether or not to get it
4. No need to rehash…I’ve never said Covid was a hoax or not real. Just said that it’s time to move on, stop testing people without symptoms, and get back to a normal country
5. Like “most” (not all) people who have a struggle with Covid he had underlying lung
issues prior
Okay...maybe you didn't specifically say that but it's easy enough to find your posts. I've seen you make these comments enough and they've stuck out to me because you one of the early COVID-deniers on this, even if you want to frame it as something else, and claimed that working in healthcare gave you some additional insight.

See below:

last update

111,351 total cases worldwide
3,8882 deaths
62,661 recovered
38,829 active cases
5,979 in serious or critical condition

3,120 of the deaths have taken place in China out of 80,739 cases and 5,111 of the 5,979 in serious condition are in China.

The US has had 554 cases w/ 517 active. Just 22 deaths with 10 being in one hospice facility...coronavirus did not kill them. Their diagnosis did. Only 8 currently reported in serious condition.'

It is amazing in every election year, some sort of illness that cannot be cured pops up, media scares the shit out of everyone and then it fades away into the darkness.

From SARS, to swine, to ebola, to zika, to noravirus, to cornoavirus, etc etc.
That took maybe 30 seconds to find, I can dig in further if you'd like. Just admit that you didn't believe COVID was a real threat in any sense, that it was drummed up by the media and numbers were exaggerated, etc. You were VERY consistent in trying to make the point that we shouldn't be worried and you followed Trump's narrative every step like the little clown you are.

Wow. His post didn't age well at all. In sorta his defense, he certainly isn't the only poster on this site who posted similar things. There were a lot of "two more weeks" posts around the election time

Wow that escalated quickly…you seem upset…the numbers are still very similar. The virus is bad, numbers are still escalated, and death rates aren’t near what was predicted. Those are all facts but I’m glad it makes you feel tough to name call behind a keyboard. Continue on

I have been around Covid since the beginning, still around it daily, and somehow after being exposed 20 or more times I’ve been one of the lucky one (knock on wood) that have not had it.

I’ve never said it didn’t exist, never said it couldn’t be deadly, never said it wasn’t serious. I’ve just said it’s time to take off mask, go back to normal, and let Americans live their life

The ones that opt to stay at home, opt to wear mask, and opt to vaccinate should have that right and ability. That’s pretty much been my stance.

And no it wasn’t because of Trump…it was because I did my own research. I’m not a puppet

You say I’m being a bitch but you come on here calling me a dick and a clown…that’s mature bud! I bet you’re a blast to have a beer with…oh wait you wouldn’t have a conversation like that sitting at a bar with someone you didn’t know while giving them an internet user handle as an introduction

Carry on

It didn’t age well but I also consistently updated numbers and followed them weekly and daily…there are also a lot of questions and a lot of data that goes into the numbers but this thread wasn’t about that and I am not getting into it to start a political shit storm.

It still has a low death rate (thank goodness) and now the government is still requiring mandatory testing, masks in certain places, and now mandatory vaccines and contract releasing which I personally don’t agree with

Not sure why you're replying to me. I quoted and was replying to the drama queen who has been crying about people not getting vaccinated for months.

You obviously have comprehension issues or are confusing me with someone else. I don’t give a shit if you get vaccinated or not, I am all for people making their own choices. I do not like mandates at all. What bugs the crap out of me is when people don’t have the balls to own the consequences of their actions. So, when unvaccinated people get sick and cause cancer patients to not have access to life saving treatment (there’s a guy that even got shot and couldn’t get treated for 6 days because all ICU beds were taken) or cause my health insurance cost to go up because trying to save them is so expensive, I bring up how hypocritical it is for people to hide behind freedom and take a shit on responsibility. These two go together. There’s a reason for the saying “freedom isn’t free”. Real Americans are willing to pay a price for it. But now we have these entitled Americans that want to offload the cost and consequences of their actions to others, this is total BS. Sorry if it hurt your feelings that somebody reminded you that owning the consequences of your actions is a matter of principle.

Wtf are you talking about? I'm vaccinated. I'm not antivax and you won't find a post of mine to the contrary. I'm not going to read through that wall of drivel. Feel free to stop blowing everything out of proportion. ...or not...

One of my direct reports (director level, the guy is smart) has been sick for 14 days (fever, cough, oxygen levels dipping below 90, extremely fatigued, unable to work) and missed work for more than a week. His first COVID test came back negative but his fraternity brother is a COVID mocking doctor who found a way to get him Ivermectin prescribed 10 days ago. He has still been getting worse since. He has two young daughters (5 and 3) and was supposed to move to a new house soon. He won't go to the hospital or see a doctor that's not like minded like his friend. Any thoughts on how to convince him to get seen? I've been telling him to do it for his daughters but no luck.

Thank you in advance.

Not great but there is hope. The good news is that his wife turned the situation around. Within 15 minutes of me reaching out to her, she had scheduled up a telemed visit for him, which led to a ton of testing. His inflammation markers were high, the temperature isn't going away in spite of meds, and he received confirmation earlier this morning he had COVID. He is currently trying to get access to the monoclonal antibodies treatment without having to do a hospital stay. So, the next few days will be critical as he is still very sick and unable to work.

Goes to show you why women are called the "better half" :)

Great! Please keep us updated. Although everyone has an opinion, what is most important are people. So for all involved I pray this turns out well and he rebounds back healthy.

My thoughts are don't waste an ounce of emotional energy on a piece of shit who'd abandon his children because facebook told him vaccines were bad.
