I personally don't have a problem with banning a true assault weapon fully automatic. I own a AR - 15 22cal. Who in the heck would use a 22cal to plan a mass attack ? Another gun the democrats has yet to start yelling about is the AR-10

They want to ban so called high capacity magazines too which would make tens of millions of handguns including mine illegal.
What size magazine is consider high capacity ? The handguns I own hold anywhere between 7 to 10 .
I recall them discussing that it should anything over 10. The old law that was repealed made anything over 10 illegal.

And the AR-10 debate comes after they ban AR-15’s. They know they can’t have a blanket semi-auto ban so they’re starting with AR-15’s. The question is why AR-15’s and not AR-10’s, AK’s, etc

IMO..... A assault rifle , Is a rifle that is fully automatic and built for the military.

I’m not for banning, but they should tighten up the laws around purchasing certain firearms. Maybe mental health checks/sign-offs before some can purchase certain fire arms.

Something tells me that if you were the one deciding who shouldn't own guns, we'd miss the majority of people who shouldn't own guns.
The liberal school my children attend has an armed resource officer, no need for them to bring a gun to defend themselves.but thank you for the concern.
I'm not talking about targeting out LGBTQ people, I just think that certain firearms should be classified as certain levels like prescription drugs. When someone is wanting to purchase a firearm at a certain level, they should have to go talk to a psychologist and pass some other rigorous background checks. It is way to easy for anyone off the street to purchase certain firearms. More rigorous background checks seems like common sense to me.

Not at all. Again, I am pro 2nd amendment. I grew up in the south hunting, and shooting guns and still do both. I just believe that we need start somewhere, and more stringent requirements around owning certain firearms seems like a good first step.
It shouldn't be harder to get a drivers license, than purchasing a firearm.
Mine holds 15 (plus one in the chamber). No one's after those, I don't think... it's the 20 or 30 round mags that people don't like.

The shooter had a handgun with a 30 round mag, those aren’t on the list I don’t believe, it’s only specific to assault rifles.
Its not harder to get a DL. For one you dont go on a waiting list and have to wait for the background check to comeback from the feds. But it should be way harder to get a DL than it currently is. We need a 6 month course like they had in Germany when I was stationed there back in the 80's because people just suck at driving and kill way more people with cars by accident...
It's not.... A convicted felon can not purchase, own , or have in procession a firearm, A convicted felon can have a driver's license. To purchase a firearm a person is required to have a federal background check .... A driver's license not so much.
