This topic may seem a bit OT now that the dust has settled on Clemson’s 2024 football season and we now have an awesome DC hire, but you never know when a situation will rear its head that can throw that out of whack….
Introduced my daughter to one of the greatest franchises in si-fi: Alien. Watched Aliens recently and a hilarious analogy emerged between two of its characters and TI posters: Corporal Dwayne Hicks (played by Michael Biehn) and Private William Hudson (Bill Paxton).
Hicks is relatively calm and collected and is there to get the job done. A teammate. Classic, stereotypical Marine (in the best way).
Hudson, on the other hand, is an overconfident punk who freaks out at the first sign of adversity. Lives in fear, lacks composure. He’s just not cut out for the mission — poor guy.
If you know the movie — I hope most of you do — then you know what I’m talking about. If not, do yourself a favor and watch it.
Then ask yourself, am I going to be a Hicks or a Hudson when I post on TI? Here’s a suggestion: don’t be a Hudson.
(And before you ask, no one is a Ripley on TI — maybe @Cris_Ard, @Larry_Williams, and @Paul Strelow … and only a small handful of other posters.)
