At work today...no vax...no job. Lots of security at employees entrance to facility.

“Why do we trust doctors….?”

Thanks Internet.
You don't find that interesting?

We are fine with doctors recommending these treatments...which are relatively new... but we are not fine with them recommending a preventative measure that's also relative new.

Why is one ok but not the other?

I trust my family doctor whom I’ve been seeing for 30 years. He’s forgotten more about medicine that I’ll ever know. He’s literally an expect in healthcare and has devoted his life to the acquisition of knowledge in pursuit of providing the best care for his patients.

Do you have a family doctor?

Yes. My question is why a double standard?

Why do people who don't trust doctors when they say to get a preventative deal then go to the doctor and then trust them to help?

The hospitals wouldnt be as full if those who didn't trust the doctors would stay away.

You’re going to have to be more specific or give some context that I’m perhaps overlooking. My doctor never recommended hydroxychloroquine or ivermectin. My doctor did recommend the vaccine.

if you don’t trust your doctor for whatever reason, find a new doctor.

I don't understand how I can be more clear.

Stats show that hospitals are overloaded. Stats show that 88% are unvaxed in those hospitals.

The same doctors that these people are trusting their life with are the same doctors telling them to get the vaccine to greatly reduce their chance of being seen by the same doctors for treatment.

So why would all these people rush to the hospital to be treated by individuals that they deem untrustworthy?

I gotcha now.

And I have no idea. Probably a lot of cognitive dissonance.

But I don’t want my taxes or health insurance premiums to go up because of antivaxxers taking deliberate risks.

die at home with the peace of mind you lived your values and beliefs until the very end.

In short, totally on board with people making choices. They just need to own them.

Cool. How about smokers? Heavy drinkers? Unhealthy eaters?

I try to live a pretty health lifestyle. Why should I have to pay for the fats who eat McDonald's every day and cost billions in treating diabetes.

Why should I have to pay for smokers who make the conscience choice to likely get lung cancer? Shouldn't they, "die at home with the peace of mind you lived your values and beliefs until the very end," to quote you?

"In short, totally on board with people making choices. They just need to own them."

As long as we're not covering Covid, let's drop the people who get lung cancer from CHOOSING to smoke, diabetes from CHOOSING to eat a crap diet. Etc..

I believe we're on the same page here Bro.

You must not have seen my subsequent responses addressing this very topic :)

Insurance companies do charge up to 50% for smokers and they should. And I'm totally on board with people paying more if they are willingly unhealthy. I gave the example I donate money to St. Jude's because 2-year olds getting cancer isn't their choice. But no, I don't want to pay higher health premiums because of the 400-pound people eating junk.

So we're on the same page. All Covid positive folks, lung cancer victims, diabetes sufferers, drug and alcohol abusers should, to quote you, "just stay home and die? "

You are conflating two things I said.
One all of these people cost the healthcare system a ton of money. Last stats I read 5% of people cause 50% of all healthcare costs in the U.S. Some of it is totally accidental and not predictable or preventable. Some of it a absolutely is (like for smokers and antivaxxers). Why should the people that knowingly do the wrong thing not have to pay their fair share?

The comment about staying home and dying was a point about prioritization and hypocrisy. You seem intent on taking it literally but I was calling out the fact that people that willingly put themselves in this situation are causing harm and now deaths (there was a link yesterday about a veteran that died because he couldn’t get treated due to Covid patients taking up all beds and resources). They claim it’s their choice and their choice alone but then they have no issue going to the hospital and getting to the front of the line, regardless of the impact on others. Their actions are incongruent with their statement. I was pointing out the responsible thing to do would be to accept getting to the back of the line and if resources aren’t available to own your choice and stay home. That would be logically consistent with a cry for independence and self determination. The logical inconsistency I was pointing out is called hypocrisy.

I am not wishing for anybody to die. I actually feel sad for the families of the antivaxxers that die, there’s new articles everyday. I wonder how their loved ones feel about losing a parent, sibling, or worst of all, child when there is a perfectly safe and effective free treatment available. How would a kid of a parent dying not question their priorities? Were the kids not important enough to them that they would rather never see them again rather than taking a shot 1.2 billion people in the world have taken?

This is actually part of the whole tragedy. Death has become normalized and we have become desensitized. Actual confirmed deaths from the flu are actually something like 4 to 8 thousand a year. That number is then extrapolated to account for unreported deaths and that gives us the 30k to 50k annual number we are used to hearing. Here we have exceeded 600,000 and instead of being astonished or disgusted at that number some people are trying to pick it apart and undermine it (they only died a a little bit sooner, would have died anyways, etc). New Zealand had like 26 deaths and people here are accepting hundreds of thousands as normal…

Well, thank goodness we've all talked this out, reached a mutually acceptable consensus and never have to re-hash this whole thing again.

For those like me who sometimes enjoy the re-hash, can we just identify each of the pro and con arguments for and against one side or the other and so cut out so much useless typing of the same stuff over and over again?

The anti-vax, anti-mask, 'I hate fat people', 'we're giving up the freedom our forefathers fought for' and 'hardly anyone is dying of Covid' arguments as number 1, 2, 3, 4 .......24 and so forth. The pro-vax, pro-mask, all lives matter, 'what's wrong with you idiots' side arguments will be labeled A, B, C, D.........X, Y, Z and so forth.

Anyone who has a rebuttal to any Covid post one way or the other should just type the number or letters which align with their views. This would save a lot of time for writers and readers and would change just about as many minds as the current wordy BS does, no matter how passionately a point is stated.

I will demonstrate: "Listen up, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I,J, K,ElementalPee."

See how much easier that is?

Success! This sort of communication is more effective than the normal blather. It is easier on the sender and the recipient and yet is as persuasive as the normal bs.

I think this makes you an "anti-covid thread" thumper. How dare you ruin the fun of the polarized masses with your astute observation.

I think you are wrong, I think there will be a lot of health workers not getting the shot and quitting. making someone take the shot is just another step in taking what little freedom you have left. This administration is doing their best to take all of our freedom. This once Great Country is turning the other cheek with this moron in office. just my thoughts. thanks
When I went through basic training back in the 60's and got to the shot line ,I didn't hear anyone ask if I wanted those 15 shots in both arms and my back side. Was that a mandate???Did they take all of my freedoms before Viet Nam What say you who the ever you are???
