When traveling North (technically "West") from Mt. Pleasant, I always avoid 526 and take the Bridge to 26. I have taken to getting off 26 at the Highway 15 exit. Take that to the little crossroads town of Wells, SC. Hop on HWY 176 and ride it at least as far as Sandy Run, SC.

It really helps to have a real time navigation program on your phone like Waze or Google Maps at this point, because right after Sandy Run is when you need to start making a call on when to get off of Hwy. 176. There are a couple of good options depending on what traffic on 26 East is doing. Use one of those programs to guide you in from there depending on traffic.

Now, coming back (when traffic is bad), I have taken to getting off I-26 to I-77 North and taking the exit for the Amazon plant. You can feed around onto hwy 176 from there, and just ride until you get back to Well, SC. Hope of hwy 15 to I-26 from there.

You miss the Cola construction and the 26/95 interchange going and coming.
