Super tough loss last night
Some quick takeaways
The first 10 mins is what lost us this game, simply just cannot go down 15 on the road it basically means the crowd will be involved with the game the entire game and that’s always an uphill battle.
Heidbreder isn’t the greatest defender in the world but he needs minutes the spacing he provides makes the offense look sooooo much more in rythmn. Specifically chase and ian have So much more room to work with when defensive teams cannot just help off of every player driving. Chase went on a heater when Carolina couldn’t just sit in gaps cause we had zero 3 point shooters on the floor.
as much as everybody hates on Wiggins I still think we need him to be as good as we possibly can. He gives us lineup versatility because he’s the only player on the roster that can space the floor at 6’10 and guard 2-4 at least somewhat effectively.
i thought reeves played the best minutes he played all year. Brad needs to continue playing him more and more because there will be more games like tonight where refs are calling everything and Ian and Lahkin will get called for everything. He is raw but he is so big if you just tell him to be aggressive on the glass don’t jump for fakes he will be fine.
I know people continue to ask for foster but there is a reason he played so little. The coaches know he can’t guard any decent bigs in the post he’s slow small and is a non factor offensively if the ball is not ran through him. Don’t really see him playing more than 6-8 mins a game in conference when guys need breaks.
I think we need to find a way to bring Del along because we need another guy if it’s not gonna be Wiggins outside of chase that can just go get you a bucket.
Ultimately these past two games are tough losses that might cost us a couple seed lines in March but we will be as ok long as we take care of business in the less than stellar acc to say the least.
I think our team and coaching staff will learn a lot from last night. When the refs are calling the game super uptight last night and we cannot be physical defensively I think it is important to get shooters on the floor. Haven’t looked at the advanced stats much but to me it feels like the offense runs much better when ether we go three guards with Wiggins at the 4 or you have another shooter or guard in the game instead of Wiggins. The super big lineup is not great on offense cause it lacks spacing and then it’s also not great defensively cause the 3-5 don’t all move the best.
I want to see much more Chase/Zackery/Heidbreder or Dillon/Wiggins/Ian
Chase Zackery/Dillon or Heidbreder/Ian/Lahkin lineups
