Charleston elects 1st Republican mayor since 1877.

I mean I think Joe Riley served for 100 of those years… And he wasn’t a big lefty like the modern dems.

But Teck needed to go. Very nice guy, but not what Charleston needs. Hoping Cogswell does a good job. Lot facing Charleston from how to manage growth, housing, flooding, traffic, historical preservation, etc.

Did they? I think fewer than 14k people voted for Cogswell. More than enough white folks to carry that load. I hope they are waking up to terrible dem policies, but I’m not holding my breath.

I know the Riley’s and Cogswell families. Great people. What the mouth breathers in this thread - the ones posting about shredders - don’t realize is that mayors cannot afford to be too partisan. You cannot do your job as a mayor if you are overly partisan. The voters in this election aren’t really thinking dem vs republican. They werw just looking for the best candidate with the best ideas. It is sad that our national politicians can’t follow suit.

Agree that these things aren’t nearly as partisan as our national shitshow. I know some of the Riley family as well and have chatted with Teck at a handful of Hibernian events. Both are welcomed there even though it’s a heavy R crowd. Riley was an old school dem too. Even brother Bill and his work for welfare policy wouldn’t be doing shit in the lefty party these days.

Both sides have gone extreme. And to keep to the topic, that’s pretty much never going to fly in a purple mayoral race. Though I don’t get a vote as I watch the city across the Wando. Riley was great for Charleston for the most part. Hope Cogswell will be as well.

😅I'm worried that South Carolina will vote Republican in the presidential election, especially knowing that you'll be voting for Trump.

I am voting early and often for aTrump

Had a recent election Where there were more harvested votes submitted than votes at the polls

Local election and small but yes there is lots of election fraud if you know where to look

My favorite Tim Scott dropped out

Supporting Nicky Haley for VP

And yes she is being careful about criticizing Trump as when he does the 4 years with her as VP

She will slide right into office

If you like Haley, just vote for her in the primary. A vote for trump is a vote for 4 more years of dem leadership, up and down the ballot.
