“JFK would be a Republican today” is such a stupid thing to say. Many of the very social programs modern conservatives call “communism” were pushed by JFK and his “New Frontier” program which later became part of the “Great Society” legislative agenda under LBJ.

Let’s look at some of Kennedy’s positions, some accomplished and some not:

1) Increased unemployment benefits, including benefits to children of unemployed parents
2) Increase in social security spending, including rewarding earlier retirement
3) Increase in minimum wage
4) Increase in spending on government housing
5) Expansion of the dept. of labor to grant collective bargaining rights to government employees and private employees not yet covered (this was part of the increase and expansion of min wage)
6) Increasing workers eligible for overtime pay
7) increasing spending for school libraries, lunches, and guidance counselors
8) increasing research grants to Universities
9) increase spending for SNAP, spearheading modern day “food stamps”
10) A whole myriad of civil rights actions, including implementing affirmative action into federal/military hiring practices
11) Not increasing, but creating a whole new category of government spending on mental health
12) medical coverage for the elderly (medicare)
13) increased regulations in the FDA
14) increase funding and availability of vaccinations
15) creating commission to improve women’s equality
16) increased environmental spending and increased gov regulations around pollution

So, pro-entitlements, pro-vaccine, pro-DEI, pro-labor, pro-environment. Not only would JFK not be a Republican today, you’d be in here posting twitter links every day about how he’s a corrupt, woke, communist, deep state liberal.
