Crownover pitched another gem last night. What a shame that he's endured this kind of final season with the mediocre play surrounding him. He's been a good one -- don't hold your breath hoping for an equally talented Friday night starter anytime soon. Based on last night's 10th inning loss by UNC to Virginia, it's nearly guaranteed that Clemson will finish in the 5th or 6th spot for the regular season, even with another 2 conference losses coming from the Noles tonight and Saturday. That means we're guaranteed 3 games in Durham next week. Yippee! To finish barely .500 in a year when the ACC is so lackluster truly sucks.

Louisville, Miami, FSU and Notre Dame have locked down the first 4 slots. Clemson is in, with UNC, NC State and Virginia fighting for the last of the top 6 seeds imo. The teams finishing 7-10 will face the "play-in" game format on Tuesday before joining the other 6 for the ridiculously stupid round robin format that has endured for like forever. And of course the real excitement which is....Durham!

If you are still holding out hope that Jackleg will return as head coach, then you're pulling for Mets magic and an ACC Tournament Title. Otherwise, starting the following week we'll see how far DRad casts his search net for the next head man, and if Clemson "seriously" intends to spend the money necessary to hire anyone more accomplished than a mid-major candidate. Kevin O'Sullivan has been reached out to according to my sources. Whether that story is true, and results in anything more than contract leverage for Sully at Florida, remains to be seen. I'm told Monte Lee is the fallback guy. I'm not jumping up and down about either frankly. But any change is better than status quo -- the attendance drop witnessed this spring would be considered minimal in contrast to what you'd see in the future were Leggett to return.

We are getting hammered in recruiting, and there's so many distractions in the clubhouse. Throwing Peps out is 3 years overdue - but Jack turned down that idea last summer and stubbornly decided to stick to his current staff. Putting a fork in the JL era is long overdue. Clemson has paid him well and will likely spiff up his separation package as well. It's way past negotiating a swansong tour. Please Dan, hire us a great coach for 2016.
