The Transfer Portal officially opens today but, there are already some interesting names that have entered due to coaching changes or being graduate transfers. It's a strange element of the baseball portal that coaches are actively coaching their teams through postseason ball, recruiting their own rosters to not enter the portal, and nudging guys into the portal even though the team is still playing. The only reason I am starting this thread now is because things are going to start happening in the portal even though Clemson has a lot of important baseball left to play. Once the season comes to a close and the beloved Off Season Thread gets started we can merge this thread into that one if @Cris_Ard allows. I figure this gives us baseball sickos something to discuss while we wait on games to start in the CLEMSON SUPER REGIONAL.

This is an offseason that Clemson needs to be aggressive in the Portal to fill some roster needs due to departures and alleviate some dead weight on the roster. Additionally, Clemson is primed to capitalize on their on field success in the first two seasons under Bakich and needs to strike while the iron is hot to acquire differential talent. There is a lot of this roster turning over and not many heir apartments in the cupboard to fill those vacancies. There are some guys who are going to be out of Clemson's price range or not a philosophical match with EB and crew. I’ll update this thread periodically as interesting names worth following enter or if a Clemson player enters.

Let's start with someone the staff is certainly very familiar with.

Noah Sullivan P/DH USC Upstate: Draft Eligible RS Sophomore but this likely isn’t a Draft leverage play. Only has one good year of production so is likely looking to prove it in the ACC/SEC. Career .313 hitter with 22 HR’s. Had a huge year this season hitting .324 with 17 HR and great discipline with a K/BB ratio of 31/37. In games against Clemson he went 6-11 with 3 HR. Against high level teams this year (Kentucky, Clemson, Penn, Coastal, SCar) he went 16-36 (.444) with 7 HR. He was also the Friday night pitcher for Upstate. His ERA spiked to 4.88 this season due to some HR luck but has a career ERA of 3.95 in 120.2 innings. He struggled a little against better lineups (Kentucky, Penn, High Point) with an ERA of 8.40 in 15 innings and a 13/9 K/BB ratio. He’s a hitter in pro ball but could be a high level option as a midweek starter or Sunday starter at Clemson if he takes a jump on the mound. He’s fiery and has some swagger/cockiness similar to Cannarella but not nearly as outwardly expressive as Cam. This is a high impact transfer that would help replace the power output being lost in Wright/Obertop and be a better arm on the staff that has experience and good production. Clemson is very familiar with him and hopefully they can get this one done
