The hits have been occurring steadily over the last 5 seasons…clemson was being outdone and outgunned in several areas of recruiting.

Other teams adjusted while clemson resisted…the product on the field has be gradually trending down at ALL positions…now it collectively second string to what it was previously. There’s not a single position group that’s as talented as Clemson was during the historic run.

The coaching has taken a substantial step back it seems…and the generational players and talent isn’t there to overcome the lack of sound coaching. There’s been a lot of headscratchers this year.

All the earned respect and prestige is largely been undone and Clemson is getting gouged at this point with other programs making clemson irrelevant to what they are doing.

You can incrementally boil a frog to death by turning up the heat and the frog will continue to believe everything is fine and then it’s dead.

Hopefully Clemson can win this ACC championship and make the CFP…I do think Clemson can win a matchup in the CFP too but that margin of performance is so much slimmer now. Clemson used to able to bring a B game and still blow the doors off teams.

Smart money and the product we’ve come to be understand with Clemson is to until proven otherwise…this program is what it is and SMU could very well embarrass Clemson in Charlotte. It’s hard to determine which is better…Clemson winning and making the CFP to prolong this slow burn to being an average program or Dabo being forced to see the reality of things and make the necessary changes.

Best is not the standard right now. However…with College football…there are no standards anywhere so it’s hard to gauge where the marker is…when you have mercenary schools outspending Clemson 3 and 4 to 1 what are you supposed to do? When teams are putting together 4X the NIL packages with no rules & regs…it is what it is…it’s a best compensation package business right now…probably always has been but at least there seemed to be some type of controls in place.
