... Its campus isn't near an oil field!

Here's a link the The Athletic article today about Texas Tech's signing of the nation's best women's softball player, NiJaree Canady. Million-Dollar Pitcher! The deal was largely funded by a wealthy oil-industry executive, who also created the Red Raiders' NIL collective.

Will NIL collectives suddenly make oil-centered schools (or, perhaps, Silicon Valley schools ... although that's far less likely) far more competitive than anyone could have imagined a few years ago?

Realistically, how can universities like Clemson compete (at least outside of football) for the best athletes against such a largesse of financial support?
