I have to say hats off to the offensive staff and Coach Elliot/Scott. The offense went through some rough spots at times early, but it has been excellent overall. I think most of those rough spots were a product of poor play by some individual players at times, injuries, and then weather conditions vs ND.
Scheme wise I love the zone read, out routes, spot screens, jet sweeps, deep shots, and willingness to take what the defense gives us. The OL has been exceptional. We have OL depth that I never expected at this point in the season. Also what a great job by the WR corp. To lose our best WR and to bounce back like we have is great to see. Peake has really emerged lately. Good to see. Tight end play has finally been what we all knew it could be with Jordan Leggett becoming a real threat in the passing game and a more reliable blocker. Garrett Williams is an excellent addition to the run game.
Going forward I just don't see a team that can stop this unit on our remaining schedule. When you combine our ability to run and throw with a great defense that gets us the ball back it really is difficult to see anyone beating us in the regular season if we show up ready to play.
I know the numbers may never show it as the best ever (unless we absolutely go off the last half of the season), but is this current offense the most productive offense in school history? I can't think of a more balanced Clemson offense with weapons all over the field and very good lineman. Obviously the QB situation is exceptional.
If we make it to the playoffs can this offense score on Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, etc...? I have a feeling with #4 at QB we can move it on just about anyone. Is there a defense out there that can just shut us down? If we can go toe to toe with the defenses of the top 5 then I think our defense will do their part. Will be interesting to see if we get that far.
