Folks, we have some weapons on the edge with 0, 1, 9, and 12 (hopefully 6 soon). The young guns are growing up and it's time to put the game on their backs. After talking with some co-workers who are coots, it became clear that they didn't fear our running game at all and felt those were wasted downs for our offense. I couldn't agree more. Nothing against Mafah. Healthy, he is a quality back, but in this battered state the running game just isn't effective and it's clear we don't trust another back, even though I like Haynes. Going forward here is what I hope to see us do on offense.

Dream Plan:
1. Go up tempo more times than not. Cade really operates well when we go fast. We need to snap it with 25 or more on the play clock. It would be a change up and I believe it would be effective.

2. Throw the ball around the yard. Use Williams, Wesco, Brinny, Moore and hopefully Brown returning. These guys are legit and a serious matchup problem for SMU and most teams. We need to let Cade be a gunslinger. All these Carolina co-workers are very concerned about these WRs going forward. They saw it. Anyone could. We have to get the ball in their hands. If they are in zone, go west coast on them and take the short stuff like we did with success vs UofSC. If they go man, mesh, rub and pick them. Take shots. Throw the ball!!! It is our best chance, especially vs this SMU team. They are 5th against the run, but not in the top 75 vs the pass. Throw throw throw!!!

3. Mix in the QB run game. Lots of QB draws. It compliments the drop back passing game and it gets one of our fastest players the ball in space. One thing teams will try to do is go man to man when we throw it. It opens up a ton of opportunities for the QB, especially the QB draw. We need to give Cade 8-12 designed runs Saturday night.

4. Run screens to a running back not named Mafah. Again if teams go man, slip the back in the flat, invite the DL up the field, then release those OL to block the LB defending that RB. Even take a page from SMU and put Antonio Williams at RB some. Teams have to decide how they will matchup to it.

5. Attack down the field. The 1 on 1 opportunities will come. Don't do it on 3rd and 2, but early downs, 2nd and short, let's take shots. Then when they back off, hit them with the quick passing game.

I truly believe we have some offensive pieces that are very difficult to defend. We just have to be willing to attack. Attack with tempo. Attack with our best wrs. Attack with QB runs. We just need to throw caution to the wind and let's see what Cade and this fleet of WRs can do.

Go Tigers!!!
