From my spreadsheet - here are how our opponents compare, ranked from TOUGHEST to EASIEST....

How are they calculated? By taking the averages ranking of the team's Scoring offense (weighted x2), Passing offense, and Rushing offense for offensive strength and the same categories for defensive strength.

For example - SMU's offense is as follows:
Scoring offense (8)
Scoring offense (8)
Passing offense (19)
Rushing offense (69)

Average those four numbers to 25.8 offensive strength

Scoring defense (28)
Scoring defense (28)
Passing defense (94)
Rushing defense (8)

Defensive average is 39.5

Their TOTAL TEAM Strength is an average of offense and defense - puts them at a strength of opponent of 33.

With that in mind - here are the teams we've faced compared to those that Texas has played - first number is the strength of that opponent...

CLEMSON - Average Strength of Opponent - 69
33 - W - SMU
38 - L - South Carolina
41 - L - Georgia
46 - L - Louisville
50 - W - Virginia Tech
66 - W - Pittsburgh
75 - W - NC State
83 - W - App State
94 - W - Virginia
96 - W - Wake Forest
105 - W - Florida State
106 - W - Stanford

TEXAS - Average Strength of Opponent - 70
41 - L - Georgia
41 - L - Georgia
51 - W - Texas A&M
62 - W - Michigan
63 - W - Arkansas
67 - W - UTSA
71 - W - Oklahoma
77 - W - Colorado State
78 - W - Florida
81 - W - Kentucky
83 - W - Vanderbilt
92 - W - Louisiana-Monroe
101 - W - Mississippi State

There you go - some numbers for your indulgence.

Texas played 2 games vs teams (Georgia, twice) with a 50 or lower score. Both losses.

CLEMSON played 5 games against teams 50 or lower - and went 2-3 in those games.
