We were returning from vacation yesterday so I haven't had a chance to read part 2 yet, but just read part 1. I would like readers to set aside any feelings they have about Brownell and read part 1 looking at all the aspects there are to coaching.
When he talks about all they had to do in between games and includes all the stuff about talking to his players individually as well as all the strategy stuff. I have been in coaching 48 years, and those on the outside don't think about the cultivating of individuals as a part of coaching. We as fans tend to focus on games and strategy, etc....but the real important part of coaching is staying focused on the fact that you are building individuals and relationship is the most important part of that.
I for one am glad to see that he focuses on that. I have always believed that to build a good team you must build good people. Just a thought.
