My family was Republican but that was a major reason why I broke ranks because of how ridiculously narrow minded they were. Unbelievable that all these years later we're going ass backwards and attempting to whitewash any subject that isn't white Christian friendly.

My man … you and I agree, “truth” should be taught. CRT is not truth, has very little do to with truth, fact, the empirical, history AND everything to do with theory … the theory that all “power structures” should be viewed through the lens of race. Because of this, if my cousin touches on any subjects regarding diversity, equity and inclusion, she has a bullseye on her forehead for simply teaching about things that would normally be taught in a Sociology class!

The issue here isn't about whether or not a child will convert or feel shame, it's simply about it not being the schools job to teach gender or race related curriculum. That sits with parents all day everyday. There are plenty of non-white people standing up against this simply because they don't believe in it. It's not just us racist white folk that seem to show up on CNN at school boards hearings.
I'll teach my children not to be racist and I'll teach my children to be accepting of gender choice, religious affiliation etc. I need their teachers to ensure they are proficient at reading, writing, math, science and history. The education system is overreaching here.
I didn't say all conservatives are narrow minded but they certainly cornered the market on it historically. The party of freedom has no problem with sticking their nose into every social issue and crafting policies that disenfranchise anyone they see as an "other". This backfired on them in the past and drove a generation of people away from the Republican party. It looked like they learned their lesson and adapted their messaging to the changing times but now we've come full circle again. They're crafting policies that allow people to sue anyone involved in the "legal" abortion arena, tip lines are being set up to allow people to report any teachers that discuss racism or sexual orientation, including the ridiculous "Don't Say Gay" bill in Florida that allows citizens to sue teachers if they discuss it. They're even advocating recording teachers to monitor their lessons - if this keeps up you're going to have a severe teacher shortage because they're sick and tired of the meddling.
But just to cut to the chase - this is mostly driven by the need to create fear and angst among middle class whites in order to drive them to the polls. Conservatives are afraid that if their children are exposed to the truth, they might find empathy with other groups and **gasp** ,become a Democrat. That's it in a nutshell. I said what I said.

I think I'll start a movement to prevent teachers from speaking about Trump or Trumpism since it's such a dark, vile and divisive subject and it makes liberals uncomfortable. I propose filming teachers to make sure they don't utter his name and if they do they can be sued for $10,000. If an Antifa or BLM parent turns them in they should get punitive damages since they will experience more harm.

The only thing my kids learned about Trump in school was that they shouldn't vote for him based on the political views of a few teachers. So instead of my kids learning how government works, why we have two parties, the founding fathers etc......they learned that Christopher Columbus killed native americans and that they shouldn't vote for Trump because he's going to build a wall.

Words are very important, so we need to be clear on what we are talking about.
Just because racism exists in the world doesn't mean these kids being taught "white guilt" are racist. There is a difference between talking about slavery, why the civil war happened and why you treat everyone as equals vs telling white children to feel guilty about something that happened when their great great great grandparents were children. There are many ways to teach empathy ........unless you just mean racial empathy.
Also, we caught our school reading books to the kids in class but not telling us they were doing it. Those books were on transgender with graphic details. We only found out because my oldest came home and asked us about it. She was 9 at the time. This is why parents are starting to have concerns.
My kids also came home with political opinions on party and candidate the last two elections. We don't talk politics at home, we don't watch the news and we certainly don't influence our kids on politics but instead encourage them to form their own opinion and stances. If I'm not doing that at home, then I don't think a teacher should be doing it in the classroom.
