Mutual decision sees CB Wesley Green leave Gamecocks

South Carolina is down a defensive back in 2015. Wesley Green has left the program, South Carolina announced Monday morning.
“It was mutually decided that Wesley needs a fresh start someone else,” South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier said. Sometimes a fresh start is just what a player needs.
Green faced academic concerns upon his arrival to the South Carolina program last summer. After being flagged prior to enrollment, Green did eventually make the grade and was eligible to play last season. Green redshirted last season, giving him four more years of eligibility.
Should Green transfer to another school, he will be forced to sit out the 2015 season if he lands at another FBS program due to NCAA transfer rules. He would be eligible to play this fall if he transfers to a lower-division school.
