I may be dead wrong on this, so please feel free to correct me if I am.
It seems that he was given a better title and salary bump in order to retain him and not lose what we get from him in recruiting. I know he's an integral part of this staff and I'm glad he's here, but it seems that Tony Elliot is thought to have a higher ceiling as an OC. I don't know why else he'd be the one calling the plays if that weren't the case. I've always understood that from CM's point of view he thought more of Elliot than of JS.
Am I wrong in thinking that Dabo only named him co OC so he wouldn't bolt and take an OC job at a smaller school to prove himself? You don't want to lose his recruiting ties if you can help it. I'm not saying he would've gone with Morris or that Morris even wanted him as his OC, but I know he's a Clemson guy and loves the area.
