I was thinking today how interesting it is that a lot of Dabo's detractors credit his coordinators for all of his success and yet his coaching tree has been pretty abysmal overall.
Chad Morris wasn't great at SMU (14-22) and of course was a train wreck at Arkansas (4-18).
Jeff Scott was even worse at USF (4-26).
I think Tony Elliott was dealt a rough hand at UVA on and off the field but he hasn't been great (11-23) and has to be on the hot seat this year.
Venables also came into a tough situation with the mass player exodus following Riley and joining the SEC and he's got the best record of the 4 (22-17) but he hasn't been a home run hire there.
Billy Napier is technically in Dabo's tree and has had the most success of any of his former coordinators (40-12 at UofL and 19-19 at UF) but I would consider him more in Saban's tree than Dabo's.
Obviously tons of variables for whether any coach is going to work out anywhere but I would've expected these guys to have more success than they have.
