In response to Milo Yiannopoulos’ October 18 speaking event at Clemson University a group of Left-leaning students and their respective organizations formed the ‘Anti-Milo Event Committee’ to protest against the conservative speaker.

[Audio]

The Clemson chapter of Students for a Democratic Society is the primary instigator of the protest committee. The university’s SDS chapter is composed of a group of students and philosophy professor Todd May, who attends the club’s meetings. Based on undercover audio, SDS is coordinating with communications professorKumanyika and the leader of the university’s Black Lives Matter spin-off ‘See The Stripes.’ Other groups that were contacted to join the protest include Clemson’s Feminist Club and LGBT club ‘SAGA.’

Per audio evidence of a September 29 chapter meeting, Clemson SDS president said, “we’re going to have an event planning committee that’s just going to organize around the Milo thing . . . so we can work together with [Feminist] club, Chenjerai Kumanyika and A.D. Carson.”

She also stated that Yiannopoulos sounded like, “someone I want to punch in the throat.” Adding that she planned on vandalizing the Yiannopoulos event flyers around campus, “I’m gonna’ throw paint all over [the event flyer] or something.”

There have also been been public threats to Yiannopoulos’, from this same individual. A tweet, “If somebody put a bullet in Milo’s head I would donate to that person’s bail fund.” was posted and promptly deleted by a member of this same SDS chapter.

IMG_0710-300x162.jpg
On an audio recording of the meeting, individuals can be heard mocking free speech, stating, “I know why Clemson is allowing [the Yiannopoulos’ event], because ‘freeze peach!’”

Kumanyika, the professor helping with the protest plans, has been heavily involved in campus politics and controversies. He publicly criticized Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney in an article after the coach commented on Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest. Kumanyika was also thrown out of a Donald Trump campaign rally last year at Clemson.

Dude, the LIBS have spoken...

Don't you know that free speech is not allowed unless you only say what the LIBS want you to say??

Otherwise, you'll just be labeled bigot, racist, sexist, & all other sorts of - ists as well...

They don't seem to understand that this is literally just to increase the range. Don't like it, don't read it. I won't be "drinking bleach" or "posting on White Supremacist sites." This forum is for "Clemson news," It's entirely appropriate.

Don't like it? Cry about it.

This forum is for Clemson Sports News. This belongs on the RoundTable.

I hope you are paying Cris for your continued use of this board to promote this event that your organization is making money off students in the name of free speech. I guess free speech isn't free after all!

Based on how quickly thinks are being moved to the RT, I don't expect your promotional efforts to last long here.

Until then, go play in traffic or something

Spam.

Whether anyone agrees with the good doctor or not, it's easy to tell you and your incessant spamming of your shitty, yet-to-be-developed-because-you-likely-have-no-talent writing are just as obnoxious.

Take your shit to Stormfront.

Go the F*** away!

Please pour yourself a cold glass of bleach

Milo is a douche and instigator to make money...he even admitted it.

Also, agree with above posters, gtfo.

Dude. Go away. Please. Or at least take this shit to the Round Table.

I agree this is better suited for the Roundtable.

That being said do any of you have any actual thoughts on the matter? It seems like just because some says something you dont agree with it is generally accepted in some circles to label it as hate speech. It also appears that just because the speaker is conservative that at least one student in the video mocks the principal of free speech because she doesn't agree with the speaker or his views.

Boy, those asking for harm of the OP are so classy!

I don't know why I'm quoted. I never mentioned my opinion on this at all. I just think it's absurd he continues to spam the board with this. It's one thing for people to bring up political events and what not. It's another thing to spam the board and promote yourself(with terrible writing skills) with what is essentially a blog post on a board that has nothing to do with what he's trying to say.

Fvck no there are no thoughts. That would require actual thinking.

As apparently the lone moderate on the board, I consider the far right and the far left to be stocked with intolerant ass hats. I actually consider the liberals in this case to be a tiny bit stupider. They are supposed to be the free speech folks... Pretty ironic when a supporter of Clemson's version of Black Lives Matter supports putting a bullet in someone's head, no?

Folks get too excited about shiit. Dabo spews on the National Anthem protest... Stupid on his part? Yes (actually, I think he did it on purpose to change focus from the team's early stumbles... a page from Spurrier's book), but he can say whatever. The professor's reply... Stupid? Yep (why you wanna nit pick with a football coach?), but I somehow feel that Dabo hasn't lost much sleep over that. So the professor can say whatever he wants. And so forth... You wanna protest, have at it!

I just don't get all the rustled Jimmies. If you wanna support something, have at it. If you wanna counter protest, ditto. If (like me, you don't give a shiit), just shrug and move on. I actually can't believe I took the time to write this... that's 5 min none of us will get back

Thats exactly why you were quoted.

As you so eloquently stated.

Go the F*** away!

I quoted you and several others to solicit you opinions on the subject. Evidently you didn't read what I posted when I quoted you.

And I agree, as previously stated, the Roundtable is the appropriate forum for this type of post.

My fault. I thought you were asking my opinions on what he wrote. I just said "go the f*** away" because I didn't want to have to explain why his postings are absurd on this board. OT posts about political events that go on in our world are one thing, but what he's doing is just spamming this board to try and find another place to get his voice heard because apparently he's not getting enough attention elsewhere.

Never thought I'd have to tell a bunch of college age folks to drink more beer, have more fun, and get laid. That said, see the previous.......

Some of you guys are never going to make it in the private sector or you're gonna have to knock the Gibraltar sized chips on your shoulders very very soon. That goes for both sides of the spectrum.

But, this crap needs to be removed off this board. Where are all the monitors when this $&?! gets posted.

No worries brother.

I understand where you are coming from.

I wasnt so much interested in thoughts on what the OP wrote but on the subject at large as there is a perceived trend of backlash against conservative ideas. Additionally, there have been relatively highly publicized cases at several large Universities that center on free speech, Mizzou, Yale, DePaul, Georgia Tech, etc, where it seems the students and in some cases the universities are curtailing or attempting to curtail opposing view points.

There really are only a couple of hate speech quotes on this thread. And none by the OP.

Thanks for the info but please post these types in the Round Table for future shares

I really have no prob with Milo and think he should say whatever he wants. My prob is with OP being a stooge for the guy.

I agree with the OP on many issues but his posts remind me of the endless emails my 70 year old mama sends to me with a request at the end to forward it to 10 people.

I simply delete them now and will probably put the poster on ignore. The old adage "beat a dead horse" applies in both situations.
