I don't know what else to do with this information except post about it, but I was surprised to realize this. Even though this is his 22nd season at Clemson and 16th full time as head coach I still think of Dabo as being pretty young for a head coach - or maybe now more like middle aged. Instinctually it feels like 55 is about average age for a HC.
But out of 12 head coaches in this year's CFP he's actually the second oldest, only behind 63-year old Curt Cignetti. In fact there are as many coaches in their 30s as there are 50+ (4 total). Here's the full list:
Finally, a survey of the rest of the CFP top 25 shows that there are only two other coaches of ranked teams older than Dabo - Jeff Monken and Deion Sanders, both 57.
I guess Dabo is an elder statesman now?
