Clemson (Joined in 1953)

Since they joined in 1953 - 16th
Since 2000 - 7th
Since 2010 - 3rd
Since 2015 - 2nd

Clemson IS a Blue blood and has greatly improved since 2000. Dabo Swinney is a huge part of the most recent success. However, Clemson has been one of the top 16 programs in the country since all time. Hoping Clemson can continue to be a top 10 team into 2030s. Dabo has built us to be around.

Duke (Joined in 1953)
All Time - 83rd
Since they joined in 1953 - 100th
Since 2000 - 115th
Since 2010 - 85th
Since 2015 - 96th

Duke has been unable to have consistent success throughout its career. Not sure they will ever be able to do much of anything outside of make a few bowls here and there with a decent coach. Cutcliffe and Spurrier both were able to get some wins a Duke. If Duke could consistently be a top 65 team, that would be awesome.

UNC (Joined in 1953)
All Time - 45th
Since they joined in 1953 - 59th
Since 2000 - 82nd
Since 2010 - 61st
Since 2015 - 70th

UNC was a much better football team before joining the ACC. Since then they are below average. If they were able to sign a really good football coach, they probably could improve tremendously. UNC needs to get back to being a top 45 team. They will need another really good coach after Mack Brown. Bad coaching hires is what has really brought them down.

GT (Joined in 1979)
All Time - 28th
Since they joined in 1979 - 56th
Since 2000 - 49th
Since 2010 - 77th
Since 2015 - 104th

GT has went straight into the toilet since 2000. They need to pony up and get a top 35 coach and get back to at least being a top 50 team. They are in a talent rich area, yet are terrible. Paul Johnson was able t o win there, but really set GT back decades because of that style of offense. This is a program that used to really be a good football program, but not anymore. We really need GT get back to being a top 50 program again. There is too much talent in GA not to be.

WF (Joined in 1953)
All Time - 100th
Since joining in 1953 - 107th
Since 2000 - 76th
Since 2010 - 80th
Since 2015 - 54th

WF has made some serious improvements since 2000. Grobe and Clawson have been outstanding hires and have turned them into a very solid program. If Wake can do it, GT should have no problem right. They are strapped as a smaller school, but have shown that you can still win in football. WF being a top 50 football program is a big deal. Now we will find out if they can stay there.

FSU (Joined in 1991)
All Time - 12th
Since joining in 1991- 8th
Since 2000 - 19th
Since 2010 - 16th
Since 2015 - 60th

FSU is one of the few schools in the ACC that has had a better record since joining, but they have really fallen off the map since Jimbo left. They went out and made two crappy low level coaching hires and it has really crushed them. They aren't that far removed from being a great team, but they need a top 15 time national coach running that program. To go from Bobby Bowden and Jimbo Fisher and then go to Mike Norvell and the other guy that I can't even remember his name is pathetic. Having a big time coach is ALL FSU needs to get right back on top. The SEC is going out and getting big time coaches. They have to land a big coach this next time around or they run the risk of becoming TN. FSU needs desperately to get back to being a top 15 team in the country. There is way too much talent in Florida for them not be at a minimum a top 25 team EVERY YEAR.

Cuse (Joined in 2013)
All time - 42nd
Since Joining in 2013 - 106th
Since 2000 -95th
Since 2010 - 92nd
Since 2015 - 106th

Cuse has been flat out terrible since 2000. They have had a string of horrible coaches. Their glory days were long before they came to the ACC. They need a coach with a lot of southern ties that can recruit the South and MidAtlantic areas. Not sure when they will ever get out of their funk. Cuse needs to get back to being a top 50 program, but they seem like they are an eternity away from that right now.

NC St. (Joined in 1953)
All Time - 66th
Since joining 1953 - 54th
Since 2000 - 46th
Since 2010 - 44th
Since 2015 - 38th

NC state has gradually made improvement since joining the ACC. They have had some coaches that have been able to make them competitive and recruit well enough to make a difference. I don't like Doeren, but he has been able to make them better and consistent. They are a bright spot for the ACC in terms of staying consistent. Would like to see NC State get into being a top 35 team year in and year out. They are definitely capable of that.

Pitt (Joined the ACC in 2013)
All Time - 33rd
Since joining in 2013 - 49th
Since 2000 - 37th
Since 2010 - 53rd
Since 2015 - 44th

PItt all time has been a very solid program. They have had some good runs with solid coaches and below average years with bad coaches. Overall though they seem to be moving in a positive direction with Narduzzi. I have been impressed with what he has been able to accomplish at Pitt so far. However, they need to get back to being a top 35 team year in and year out.

VT (joined the ACC in 2004)
All Time - 20th
Since joining in 2004 - 20th
Since 2000 -14th
Since 2010 - 37th
Since 2015 - 52nd

VT really made some bad coaching decisions and hit has caused them to plummet. They were able to really make a splash in the ACC when they first came in, but since 2010 they have tanked big time. They need a top 25 coach. They are in a solid recruiting area with MD, VA, NC, PA, and OH all close. We need VT to get back to being a top 25 program every year. There is no reason for them not to commit to doing that. I don't think Pry is the answer to getting VT back to where they need to be, but who knows.

UVA (Joined the ACC in 1953)
All time - 61st
Since joining in 1953 - 93rd
Since 2000 - 80th
Since 2010 - 94th
Since 2015 - 87th

UVA has had a history of hiring bad coaches lately. I liked Mendenhall and he had showed some progress with them, but then he retired. I think Elliot is going to have about as much success as Jeff Scott. It won't be pretty for him. UVA is in a solid recruiting area and with a solid coach they could easily be a top 60 program, but they haven't been able to do it consistently so far since they started playing football.

Louisville (Joined the ACC in 2014)
All Time - 59th
Since joining in 2014 - 64th
Since 2000 - 28th
Since 2010 - 39th
Since 2015 - 70th

Like many other ACC additions, this team has really tanked. They had a great run with Petrino the first time, but his 2nd time around was a disaster. Louisville needs to hire a top 30 coach that can recruit. They have potential to be a top 35 program year in and year out. I don't think they are far way, but they need to recruit better and they need a top coach.

Miami
All Time - 14th
Since joining the ACC in 2004 - 33rd
Since 2000 - 17th
Since 2010 - 38th
Since 2015 - 31st

Miami does awesome when they hire a GREAT COACH. They are average when they don't. There is no excuse for Miami not to be a top 20 team every year with the talent in the state of Florida. Hopefully Cristoball is the right man for the job and can get them going again. It really seems like he could be. The ACC needs Miami competing again for championships every year. They will need to recruit a lot better, but things are really looking up for them. They have been an average team since joining the ACC so far.

BC
All Time - 35th
Since joining the ACC in 2005 - 56th
Since 2000 - 42nd
Since 2010 - 82nd
Since 2015 - 87th

BC started out decent when they joined the ACC, but many bad coaches later and they have put together a lot of below average seasons. The ACC needs to see BC get back to being a Top 35 program again. They aren't going to get there with poor coaching. The recruiting area in the Northeast really stinks, so it makes it difficult to compete, but they have always managed to be a really tough nosed team. If they can get some top flight speed and talent to go along with that, then they will be on the right track.

ND
All Time - 3rd
Since joining the ACC in 2013 (5-6 ACC games per year) - 9th
Since 2000 - 25th
Since 2010 - 13th
Since 2015 - 7th

Brian Kelly really brought ND back to being good again, but now he is gone. Not sure Freeman is going to be as solid a coach as Kelly, but he could be for a few years. Notre Dame has been a fun addition to the ACC, but we really need to change the schedule so the ACC can start making a bunch of money off them. The ACC needs to make sure that the home games against ND are at Clemson, Miami, VT, UNC, NC ST, Pitt and FSU. This would greatly increase the revenue. The away games at ND should be Duke, WF, Cuse, BC, GT, and UVA.

Overall, coaching hires have been the biggest issue with ACC teams having success or failure. The programs that want to see improvement really need to be ponying up some cash and going after guys like: Luke Fickell, Mike Leach, Lane Kiffin, Mark Stoops, Mike Gundy, Matt Campbell, Dave Aranda
