Decision coming for Clemson transfer target
By: Paul Strelow

A decision is expected soon from a major Clemson target we have highlighted.

On Monday, Tigerillustrated.com was the first to bring to light that the Tigers had reached out to Virginia grad transfer center Olusegun Oluwatimi, and that there was mutual interest giving this courtship legs.

We also reported that former Clemson offensive coordinator and new UVA coach Tony Elliott had jumped in working to keep Oluwatimi last weekend, before Elliott's hiring had even been formally announced.

Michigan has emerged as perhaps the top competition, and our contacts indicate a verdict is expected on Friday.

We can now share that, per Tigerillustrated.com sources, Oluwatimi visited Clemson last weekend after making Michigan his first stop.

Michigan was a destination Oluwatimi -- who goes by the nickname "Olu" -- eyed when entering the transfer portal earlier this month.

Clemson's interest brought the Tigers into the picture.

We can also tell you Oluwatimi has stayed in contact daily with Dabo Swinney.

As we laid out for subscribers, our intel pointed to Clemson moving toward portal usage for instances it deemed fit. To that end, we have also characterized interior offensive line as definitively the No. 1 need for an immediate veteran option based on roster circumstances.

Whether the Tigers were able to slingshot the Wolverines should come into view soon.

Oluwatimi (6-3, 310), a Pro Football Network second-team All-American this fall, was one of three finalists for the Rimington Award, given to the nation's top center.

He entered the portal early last week but is slated to play with the Cavaliers in the Fenway Bowl on December 29.

Oluwatimi attended Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha, signed with Air Force in 2018 and spent one year in Colorado Springs before transferring to Virginia, where he recently started his 32nd consecutive game.
