I'm not a stats person in the slightest, but I was curious how the per game points, passing yards, and rushing yards in each game compared to that opponents averages for the year.
Obviously this isn't perfect because our game results are factored into their averages (I'm not going to go through each team and pull our results out)
And the goal here wasn't to defend or attack Wes, I was mostly just curious.
Hopefully this "pastes" ok:
If the number is green, that means we did better vs the opponents average (red obviously means worse)
Some initial takeaways for me:
- I was surprised the only two teams scored more than their annual average: NC State and UVA. So 11 of 13 teams we kept below their average points. And 8 of the 13 were a TD or more below their average (I'm including App's 6.8 here)
- The rushing yards... not sure what to really take from it... NC State and Stanford both came without Woods. With him in the lineup, we seemed to control things quite better after that.
- Honestly overall, I expected to see a lot more red. I was under the impression that teams played better against us than their yearly averages.
