Dems - Middle Class Killers

Is there a way to read the proposed republican amendment? I would be curious to see if the $400K threshold was the only thing included in there.
Oh I seriously doubt it wasn't accompanied with some other nonsense that no one cares about but let's not gloss over the real kick in the d*ck that's coming to a lot of middle class/lower class tax payers from 87,000 IRS agents.

Btw - the IRS took in over $4T in revenue this year and last year.......

One might conclude that the issue is the spending habits of the government and not a tax revenue issue.

Build back broker......am I right?

nope, all you can see on congress.gov is "To prevent the use of additional Internal Revenue Service Funds from being used for audits of taxpayers with taxable incomes below $400,000 in order to protect low- and middle-income earning American taxpayers from an onslaught of audits from an army of new Internal Revenue Service auditors funded by an unprecedented, nearly $80,000,000,000, infusion of new funds."

Help me understand your argument here. More IRS agents are just going to mean fewer people will get away with cheating on their taxes.

You're saying that the dems are screwing over middle class people who cheat on their taxes because now they won't get away with it?

And I have been audited before, I would not wish it on anyone. But if you keep good records, it isn't that bad.

You don't necessarily get audited because you cheat on your taxes, that's a total misconception. Plenty of people suffer through audits to end up not owing another cent. That however, isn't the point. The point is they are coming after the middle and lower tax brackets which murders the perception that they want the 1% to pay their fair share. They want the average joe to cough up more money in historically high periods of inflation to fund their sure to fail programs and agendas. Surely you don't think old Bill Gates or Bezos is going to be out pocket or hammered with audits?

But I had no doubt you'd be on here defending the move to weaponize another branch of the government, after-all you voted for it.

>i'm tired of all these welfare queens mooching off the system. they're getting things for free and aren't paying their fair share.
>the democrats are destroying the middle class because they want to expand the IRS to make sure everyone pays their fair share.

that being said, i'd prefer less lower/middle class people being audited and penalized for potential unpaid taxes as they'll be disparately affected vs the super wealthy

What do welfare queens have to do with tax audits? You're mixing up two distinctly different problems especially as welfare payments aren't taxable income.

You're not trying to defend 87,000 fresh new hires for the IRS are you? I mean, how could anyone reasonable with a decent education back that when the country is teetering on economic fallout? That makes the IRS bigger than the state department, Pentagon, FBI and Border Patrol combined.......and our tax dollars will have to cover their salaries.

Long story short, you and the rest of us were lied to by a subpar candidate along with his merry band of idiots. Hopefully voters on the left demand whoever runs in 24 to answer actual questions about their plans for the country instead of accepting "elect me and I'll tell you".

How did Biden lie? He said that he would expand the IRS to be more effective at getting rich people to pay their taxes during his campaign. I don't know why you are assuming these new agents will only go after people who make less than $400K. Did Tucker tell you that last night or something?

I was audited. I did nothing wrong. It cost me $0. I don't care how much money someone makes, if they are cheating on taxes, then they should pay more.

the whole point of my tongue-in-cheek comment was that it's a bit hypocritical for one side to bitch about unnecessary spending and certain portions of society (read: lower class) receiving handouts and not paying their fair share of taxes while simultaneously crying that this new change may unfairly target the lower and middle classes. no, welfare payments aren't taxable income, but i've read multiple people on this forum mention how unfair it is that the lower class pays x amount in taxes every year only to receive more than what they put in when they get their refund. THAT'S the irony i'm mocking.

i actually think it's stupid to add 87k new IRS agents, as i agree that the lower and middle classes shouldn't be hassled as i think they pay enough as is, and any potential penalties levied against them will do more harm than good. all this being said, i still wouldn't change my vote for biden in 2020 as i think Trump would've done worse for the country on a geopolitical and long term scale.

Weaponize? Holy shit dude. The IRS is going to be doing the same thing they always have, they will just have more people to do it now.

If you call for more police funding, then I say you are weaponizing the police against the middle class, and I demand that these new police not arrest anyone who makes less than $400K.

That is how ridiculous your argument is.

So how many agents do you need to audit the super wealthy?? 87,000????
Can you not be honest enough to admit the vast majority of these agents are going to be auditing middle class people??
And how much does it end up costing already cash strapped people to take time off work and possibly have to hire someone to help with audit??

1. All these Welfare queens : corporations and wealthy use the system which was/is and always shall be PURPOSELY DESIGNED by payed off politicians to benefit the people that donate to them: corporations and the wealthy.
2. The entire system, thousands and thousands and thousands of lines of rules and regulations has one purpose alone- CONTROL OF THE POPULACE. They penalize what they don't approve of and encourage what they do.

If the amount collected were the real concern the infrastructure already exists with some simple software tweaks to have a national sales tax that would capture a huge portion of the underground cash economy and generate MORE MONEY. It isnt even rationally arguable that spending billions and billions to fund the IRS, to collect less money, makes any sense over what states and cities already do. It is purely about POWER.

Again, if you keep good records and don't cheat on your taxes, you will be just fine, even if you are audited; whether you make $1MM or $100K. I thought you guys were all about personal responsibility?

I have been audited, and they had two very specific things that they wanted clarification on. It was an annoyance, but it did not take too much time.

These agents have not been weaponized against the middle class. That is a stupid thing to say.

Ok so you don’t like the word weaponize but it is very clear the middle class will be the ones primarily being audited by these agents and it will make zero appreciable differ in the budget deficit. The government doesn’t need more money. Any examination of the way government wastes money and the amount of graft, fraud and corruption reveals that.

You are defending something that is completely unnecessary and a further waste of taxpayers money. For the life of me I don’t know why any rational person would defend the expansion of government when it’s clearly about the use of power and not about making any real difference to the insane deficits the ass clowns in DC are running up.
How is it you can’t understand the purpose of our tax system? Because it isn’t about money. A national sales tax is easily implemented and would vastly increase government revenue and capture the cash economy but they wont do it. Can’t you honestly ask yourself why?

You're either not good at math or just not super smart but the lower income tax brackets are audited at higher rates already than the 1%......why would they hire 87,000 people to audit 800 millionaires/billionaires?
lol, i see your business insight is incredible. take on lots of cases for lower rates of return or go after the smaller number of cases for more money? hmm.

but, based on your business acumen i guess you think the IRS isn't interested in collecting money?

not to mention that there are like 22 million millionaires in the US.

Then why do they need 5 million rounds of ammo?

5 million rounds of ammo AND automatic weapons (ie, the true definition of assault weapons)

Why would the IRS need automatic weapons?
The IRS has its own criminal investigative unit.

Why do you want to defund the police?

That number represents net worth, not income. Net worth might be in retirement accounts, home equity, college funds, etc.
let's say there's .5% of those 22 million millionaires who are in need of an audit (tax fraud isn't limited to paychecks, lol). how many would that be? that's a .5% rate. i wonder if the top 1% cheats on their taxes at a .5% rate? lol.

This will make the Biden Recession into the Biden Depression for the middle class and the lower income are going to suffer immensely

Typical Democrat policy to talk about helping the poor

Helping the poorer to be poorer

And regardless of how the median wants to carry water for The Biden Policies this recession is going to get worse and when I say worse

I mean much worse

Manchin and Sienna and a bunch of Dems sold their souls to kill the middle and lower class

if on the jury I would never convict anyone that stormed the capital

This is sheer madness on the Democratic legislators

Please admit you can see this disaster as if you are not a part of the solution then you are a part of the problem

Never suggested we take the weapons, just asking why a white collar crime unit needs better firepower than most police departments…….

I guess they needed a show of force when they arrested Martha Stewart

But like the earlier tweet you posted--these agents, unlike other govt agencies PAY FOR THEMSELVES by holding tax cheaters accountable.

Weaponizing the IRS is what Trump did when he sicced the IRS on his political rivals and those who would dare to question him.

If the Trump family and Trump admin have taught me anything it is that rich people and corporations get away with murder on their taxes and don't fear cheating because even if they get caught they will pay the slap on the wrist or just run the clock out, amend crap, drown the agency in paperwork or reach an agreement that is favorable. The govt hasn't had the resources to actually do the litigation and leg work necessary to make rich people not cheat.

Why does the post office need postal police? I am sure there is a reason for it.

Come on, man, you can do better. You have been reduced to parroting talking points from MTG and Matt (if there is grass on the field, play ball) Gaetz.

Dems went after politically affiliated 5013c’s in 2012 via the IRS and just for the timeline challenged, that was under Obama not Trump.

The “Rich” pay more than 40% of the countries taxes and you’re still here taking about how they get away with murder?

There simply isn’t enough blood to squeeze to cover 87,000 salaries, benefits and T&E.

It’s just shocking to see so many in support of this and so few crying out to get government spending under control.

Don’t need the post office at all, huge drain on American tax payers. Privatize it. Give it to FedEx……

what else you got?

I disagree. The post office still has value and a lot of people depend on it.

But I know one thing for sure. If Joe Biden came out and said that he was going to privatize the post office tomorrow, you would start a thread to complain about it. "He is trying to destroy middle class postal workers!"

That’s all you’ve got? How much is the post office subsidized each year? By tax payer dollars no less but yes, let’s go after the people the people that don’t pay taxes so we can fund subpar government ran agencies.

You and some others are on here talking about how the IRS will be profitable with 87k worth of new headcount when the post office is proof that the government can’t run profit centers.

How much do multinational corporations pay? How much do millionaires pay vs what they should pay?

You said that the IRS made 4 trillion--plenty to squeeze and plenty of fairness to be had.

There was plenty of just cause to go after those shady 501c's--the directive to go after INDIVIDUALS--comey, etc. was ALL politically motivated and the ability of one man to direct himself to go after his opponents--it doesn't get much more corrupt. But Trumpers never really cared about corruption or Trump and the family enriching themselves on tax payer money.

I think once people finally realized that Republicans spend like drunken sailors, esp the Trump admin, when they are in power--that schtick of fiscal conservatism just rings so hollow now. Remember Repubs forced this country to spend 300 million dollars A DAY for years and years and years on Iraq and Afghanistan. A day. And if you weren't on board then you were a traitor and not patriotic and loved terrorists and communists and were a nazi. So I just have to yawn at the idea that investing in a functioning IRS that will be at the very least somewhat cost-effective is horribly wrong or bad.

Biden has had a very rocky tenure but he is kicking tail these past few weeks. And the guy who was illegally destroying and flushing govt documents down the toilet isn't too happy about a good bit of things...lol.
