Former Florida State football coach Bobby Bowden said a consensus exists among the program's fans and boosters that former quarterback Jameis Winston was "an embarrassment" to the school.
The comments, which came on Paul Finebaum's radio show on Tuesday, differ from the largely supportive comments made by current Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher.
Winston was accused of sexual assault in December 2012, although no charges were filed. In November 2013, the state's attorney's office opened an investigation into the matter, but no charges were filed against Winston.
In September, Winston was suspended for the team's game against Clemson following an incident in which he stood on a table and yelled obscenities in a student union building.
In April 2014, Winston was cited for stealing crab legs from a Tallahassee, Fla., grocery store.

In two seasons at the school, the Heisman Trophy winner completed 562 of 851 passes for 7,964 yards and 65 touchdowns. He led Florida State to a spot in the inaugural College Football Playoff, where the Seminoles lost to Oregon in a semifinal.
Winston was taken first in the 2015 NFL draft last month by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
