Dan Radakovich just had a presser to discuss Jack Leggett's firing. A few of the notables:

-- I asked him if Leggett had an opportunity to remain by consenting to changes to his staff. He didn't directly answer the question, saying it was a personnel matter he'd like to keep private, but he did say it was "the coach's prerogative" to stay the same course. We do not believe that Leggett could've kept his job by cleaning house.

-- A Baseball America writer reported earlier that Clemson already has a "yes" from a replacement. We're told this was news to Radakovich.

-- Radakovich didn't want to talk about the search process, saying today is reserved for honoring Leggett and all of his accomplishments. He said the decision was very difficult. He said all of his time to this point has been devoted to working out the situation with Leggett.

-- Bradley Lecroy is running the program right now and has expressed interest in the top job to Radakovich, who encouraged him to apply.

-- Radakovich made it quite clear why he chose to go in another direction. He said the Tigers have hit a plateau the past few years and should be near or at the top of the ACC competing for championships. He noted that Clemson ranks third in the ACC in spending on baseball.

"The evaluation came down to this: I think we can be better," he said. "We have high expectations for this program, and we're going to find the right coach. We need to inject some new momentum and create optimism around this program."
