anyone have experience with the ‘church of god international’? a family member is buying in hook line and sinker- and it’s coming with some pretty odd rules. not sure what to think about it. the fact it was founded by a dude in Texas relatively recently says a lot right.. any experience with this or similar groups?

Yup when I was younger I visited this place where they said some random dude in the middle east came back from the dead a couple thousand years ago and that our behavior is constantly monitored by him if we didn’t worship him and give him some of our income we’d all have to be tortured for eternity. Because he loved us so much.

I've had dealings with them too. Those people are also convinced that a lady gave birth while still a virgin, so you know it's bullshit.

With all due respect. It seems you misunderstand. Jesus is the Son of God. He died as the only possible acceptable sacrifice ,so that we can be forgiven of our sins, and not be tortured for all eternity. He did that because He loves us so much.

I would be the last person on earth to fall for such bullshit. Clemson football and Dabo Swinney is my cult.

Nailed it. And they celebrate his birthday when it’s no where close to his actual.

What are the rules? Enquiring minds want to know…

Ah yes, that’s much less ridiculous.

I agree, once Skynet becomes self aware, we're all screwed

Everyone here is entitled to their own opinions about religion. Suffice it to say Jimmy and Tammy Fay, the ex president of Liberty university, and many fanatics on the religious right have made it easy to make fun of Christianity. I am not born again. Instead I worked at it to become a believer. Belief is through faith. There is no robe of Turin or any other relic that will prove the authenticity of Christianity. For me it was learning that many of the Apostles, who were actually historic figures, died at the hands of those in authority for teaching their Christian beliefs. If a person is willing to be crucified, stoned, decapitated or stabbed to death, rather than renounce his faith, I say he truly believes his faith. And these apostles for the most part were witnesses to the miracles, the crucifixion and the resurrection.
