Fauci says masks don’t work - 45 second video

This has been the battle cry for the anti-mask folks (not saying you) for 4 months. That soundbyte from him about not wearing masks that has been regurgitated over and over, because we didn't know the extent of asymptomatic transmission yet.

I don't know how that's on Fauci to know to magically know this. He's going off the information that is being relayed to him on a disease we knew almost zero about 3 months prior. The CDC didn't come out with their info of asymptomatic transmission until late March early April.

If we are going to put the video from months ago, at least google his present comments regarding that interview. They were told that there were not enough masks, and they were prioritizing them for healthcare workers:

This article in response to that video was printed today, https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com/fauci-doesnt-regret-advising-against-masks-early-in-pandemic-2020-7?amp

“I don't regret anything I said then because in the context of the time in which I said it, it was correct. We were told in our task force meetings that we have a serious problem with the lack of PPEs and masks for the health providers who are putting themselves in harm's way every day to take care of sick people,"

When it became clear that we could get the infection could be spread by asymptomatic carriers who don't know they're infected, that made it very clear that we had to strongly recommend masks," he said.

"And also, it soon became clear that we had enough protective equipment and that cloth masks and homemade masks were as good as masks that you would buy from surgical supply stores," Fauci added. "So in the context of when we were not strongly recommending it, it was the correct thing."

First time I have seen it. But once again more conflicting information by the supposedly world experts on diseases and viruses. When is enough conflicting information enough to cause even the most ignorant among us to question what is going on here?

All you’re doing is justifying away your ability to reason and question whether you have been lied to from the beginning. Is it really that easy to live in denial so that you feel that you’re doing the right things.

So why’s the left blaming Trump again for this pandemic?

Fauci can’t be held accountable for his words early on but Uncle Donnie can?

People refuse to believe anything that may upset them. They still lean on false promises, false hope and false information to prevent from understanding what is really happening. The old saying ignorance is bliss never rang more true

Oh no you absolutely are you just won’t allow yourself to accept it yet. But soon there will be no where left to turn for denial. “Can’t wait” that’s the most dumbass thing I may have ever heard in regards to this topic

truth being told, I’m a registered independent in FL.

But the hypocrisy on blaming him for the brunt of this pandemic is asinine.

About as dumb as not wearing a mask If it means we can have football this fall.

just being honest both ways.

Maybe my 25yrs of being a practicing physician has me slightly more prepared to evaluate the vaccine than you.

Agreed. The root of the problem is society has been emasculated for decades to a point that it’s utterly sickening. People are “offended” by everything or someone may get their feelings hurt. Bless their hearts. Life can be tough.

I totally get that covid is new, but don't you think that a doctor with Fauci's experience and stature could draw on some of that knowledge to make better predictions. If masks work to stop the spread of one virus, it seems logical that they would work with other ones. But the masks don't work, viruses are way too small to be caught by a mask at a significant level. You might as well just walk around with a collender on your head.

So he straight up lied to the public because the healthcare workers needed the masks more. Hmm, seems like a trustworthy guy.

I was just give the whole story that you just happened to not do. Amazing enough that you can find an old video but not the update.

Who exactly is trying to justify their position?

I think mistakes were made, for sure, the administration has been a shit show from the start on this, but it has been VERY CLEAR that not wearing masks was a huge mistake.

To paraphrase the WH spokeswoman today, Let not let science stand in the way.

What I got from this thread- not a single person has any idea WTH we are dealing with including the “experts”. As said in the OR -SNAFU

Hey I blame trump for starting something with hydroxychloroquin and never going any further. He could have pushed the issue and didn’t. He’s at fault too.

But with some people, if a “medical expert” came out and said Covid was passed through farting, and that butt plugs needed to be used, some people would shove one up their ass so quick their head would spin. Seriously

And if the President said it, millions of Americans would do the same. There are sheep on both sides of this “debate”.

No question about it. I’m pretty pissed about trump not following through on the hydroxychloroquin issue. He takes it and says it works and then does absolutely nothing. He’s as much to blame as others in this. I despise Biden. So encase it’s not obvious I’m looking at the whole picture and what’s in the best interest of our country. Especially for our children. Once these rich bought off politicians get to DC they all become corrupt to some degree. And at least half of them are being blackmailed on both so called sides. Remember Clinton saying if she goes down so does half of DC?

What you should be pissed about the most is the POTUS basically turning his back on the American people during this crisis and allowing Governors and Mayors to fight over restrictions and politicizing mask wearing after his own health experts said it helps prevent the spread of the virus.

As I posted yesterday, he had a chance to lead this country during a difficult time, but in early May he decided he was done with CV19 and started his re-election campaign.

Can’t disagree. We are deep shit due to a serious lack of leadership

I sure do. But that's not the point. The point is, when Fauci says, "hey everybody, line up and get your Wuhan virus vaccine!", are you just going to trust him? Or will you think for even just a second, "I wonder if ol' Fauci is sincere, or if this is just something else that he deems 'more necessary' for those who are more deserving"?

I bet that if Trump were praising Fauci instead of trying to destroy him, you'd not only have NOT posted that, you'd be singing his praises. But since he DARED to disagree with the Dear Leader, he must be destroyed. As posted above that sound bite was early in the pandemic where we didn't know much. Fauci is ALWAYS careful to say that we don't know, but here's my opinion based on my experience with other viruses. FYI, for MOST viruses, how sick you are determines how infectious you are. So while you have been infected and are wondering around with few or no symptoms, yes you can infect someone, but you are not as contagious as when you start to show symptoms. It's the reverse with COVID. You feel fine, but be contagious as hell. When you actually get really sick, you are not as contagious. There was no way to know that early on and it's counter to most infections.

AND when the new data came out, Fauci didn't stick to the old position out of some sort of pride thing. He followed the science and immediately changed his position. If more data comes in indicating that masks are not effective after all, he'll change his position again. Immediately. That's what science does... it enables you to learn... and if you keep learning, eventually you get to the truth.

Well when you don’t have enough mask for your health care or frontline workers you damn sure don’t have enough for the general public. I will gladly take medical advice from him instead of Trump who told the American people to inject themselves with bleach.

To be fair, I think he was looking to inject us with some sort of UV light to do an "internal cleaning". That's why I add a little bleach to the morning coffee now and use a UV suppository every day for "internal cleaning".

Trump holds responsibility for coming out about taking hydroxychloroquin and suggesting that it works and then dropping it all together.

He should have went further and expanded on this. I don’t agree with the way he’s handled this crisis in many regards. Doctors all over the world have said that it works and have had great success using it in combination with zinc. Zinc being critical to the equation.

I find it troubling that despite the findings, it has been demonized as a bad thing and even the possibility of getting it has been removed in some cases all the way down to the pharmacy level. That alone suggests something is amiss. Especially when it costs between $3-$20.

At that point they wouldn’t be able to walk it back. But I suppose the treatments that cost $3000+ are the answer? Or better yet a vaccine which is unrealistic at best. If we have no vaccine for the common cold how do we get one for something seemingly no one understands? And what if they decide if you don’t take it you don’t get to function in society? Are we really at the point where people will stoop to that level and allow the government and big pharma to force something on us?

Because if we are, we might as well give up any and all freedoms we still have and just become a fascist/ socialist/ communist country. Any glimmer of freedom in the world will be lost. Many people in other countries are supporting our freedoms more than we are. As a beacon of hope. When that’s gone what will we tell our children? Ultimately they will be the ones effected the most in their lives.

The choice is ours.
