The SNUB damaged the soul of this FSU program and of Mike Norvell. It was like a shotgun to the solar plexus. We all felt it.
In his anger to prove the program’s value. He rushed to the Transfer Portal that he had gone to before with great success to replace all of the lost talent to the NFL. And get back to the top the very next year, without having top recruiting classes. To try to get into the playoffs and prove everyone that they were wrong and to get back at them.
Because of our success he was able to get good players from Alabama and other SEC schools. Which boosted the excitement of the 2024 season.
Unfortunately you cannot just go get players from the portal and throw them in there and expect an immediate turn around when your foundation just got drafted. Even if you work your butt off in a short off season
Mike didn’t know it was going to back fire like this due to no chemistry and not enough time to develop and get in the culture. These players can not just come in and win a title for you. It takes time to develop fundamentals and chemistry and connection and trust which turns into motivation.
We were all fooled by the wanting to rush to return to the top. We were fooled, everyone was fooled. The media hyped us up all off season. Hell, The talent level even had Nick Saban fooled in Dublin saying we’re a top 5 team.
If we would have kept moving forward with the same guys from the Orange Bowl and added a few pieces here and there we would have been better with more chemistry than the catastrophic collapse that we are witnessing. The players would have a connection and would be hungry to compete.
These new transfers didn’t feel the pain of that snub.

Replace Jordan Travis
Replace Trey Benson
Replace Keon Coleman and Wilson
Replace Verse and Fiske
That’s not going to play out like that.
This is why Mike looks lost because he is realizing that he was not able to get it turned around that fast using what has worked for him in the past.
We all rushed and this is the result. And also why it is so painful.
Bottom Line: We have to recruit.
With all of that being said if Mike does get this team turned around this year and they wind up having a great year, then I would say that Mike is the second best coach in college football right after Kirby Smart. And we’re looking at a football genius that we have signed to a 10 year extension. 🍢
