An update on where things stand as the 2 p.m. announcement ceremony for Seabrook (S.C.) Whale Branch four-star defensive tackle Nyles Pinckney approaches:
As you know, Pinckney (6-3, 295) has mentioned the intention to give a silent commitment before revealing his decision.
We can tell you that has not happened as of yet, so if it does, it will be shortly before the student gathering at his high school.
Pinckney has continued to communicate with both Clemson or South Carolina staffs, per our sources.
Our information suggests while no one is willing to say it is 100 percent certain, Clemson remains the likely destination. The Tigers feel good about their standing, while sentiment on the South Carolina side points more in Clemson’s direction as well. Furthermore, Pinckney has continued to withhold his decision from everyone close to him, from what we have been told by multiple contacts.
To go ahead and address the inevitable question, we will not be traveling to cover Pinckney’s ceremony today. But that decision does not reflect Clemson’s chances of landing Pinckney in any way. We will be on the road this afternoon en route to scouting another prospect.
Nonetheless, we will have plenty of coverage regarding Pinckney’s decision as it unfolds.
