He spoke after the game to the media and to the radio crew.

A few of the notables:

-- He's ecstatic at what he saw today given the circumstances. The stomach bug that's going through the team, and Ian Schieffelin's back spasms ... that's some serious fight and mental toughness you saw out of them in the 72-57 win.

"Extremely proud of our team. Our guys are just fighting."

-- Funny exchange between William Qualkinbush and Brownell when Qualk mentioned Chase Hunter coming into the game and immediately jacking a 3.

"You don't put Chase in the game as a damn decoy," Brownell said. "If we're going to play let's play."

They told Hunter that Superman needs to take off his regular clothes and put on the cape.

Chauncey Wiggins and Del Jones were the biggest producers, of course, but Chase provided a vital calming effect.

"For Chase to give 10 minutes when we needed him just speaks to his character," Brownell said.

-- Twenty-five bench points for Clemson, and 36 points in the paint to 20 for the Hokies.

Wiggins hit some huge shots (4 of 6 from 3), but what Brownell loves is he's becoming more involved near the rim. He's posting more, driving more, and all five of his rebounds today were on the defensive end as Clemson held Tech to 38 percent shooting.

Jones ... sheesh that dude just has it. He's confident far beyond his years, and his slinky-crafty style is something else.

You get the feeling no one on the Clemson side was surprised by what they saw out of him today in his 23 minutes. You could sort of see it coming.

-- This team is 17-4 and 9-1 in the ACC.

And this break before next Saturday's trip to NC State couldn't have come at a better time.

They need to get some rest and get healthy.
