South Carolina Adds Another 2025 Defensive Piece, LB Taeshawn Alston

By: Caleb Alexander - GamecockScoop

South Carolina continues to clean up after a successful June with another commitment coming this evening from 3-star LB Taeshawn Alston. The lengthy linebacker stands at 6'4" and has put on a little weight from his listed weight, landing somewhere closer to 230 lbs.

He took official visits to South Carolina, North Carolina, and Rutgers during the opening month of summer before deciding to waltz across the state line to play in Columbia, SC next fall. He also had offers from USF, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia.

Alston has been a 4-sport athlete in his time at Vance County, playing Baseball, Basketball, and Track, along with Football obviously. Alston's length means he has the ability to develop into an EDGE player and could become a pass-rushing tool as he develops through his college career.

Alston has already shown a propensity to make a big impact defensively, compiling 148 total tackles, 16.0 sacks, 31.5 TFL, and 6 forced fumbles through 3 seasons. Alston becomes the 17th commitment in the 2025 class for the Gamecocks, and the 11th in the past 18 days. He's also the 2nd North Carolina athlete to join the class, along with WR Brian Rowe from Concord, NC.
