LOL...any "bill" that we give them would be negligible compared to the amount of debt we have with them.
All debt owed to China should be at $0.

Politicians and tough generally don't go good together well. That is a main reason why Donald Trump is so hated! Poor little Lindsey is likely scared of his own shadow, not that he casts a big one.
Uh, last I heard we owe them about $2T. The cost has most definitely exceeded that.
It’s $1.1 trillion - roughly. Japan actually owns more. The federal government owns about 6 times that in US debt - primarily, in trust funds. The Federal reserve owns about 3 times the amount of US debt that China owns. It’s laughable when people say things like “China owns the US.” China buys our debt because it’s safe and offers them an avenue to peg the yuan to the dollar. They have to artificially suppress the yuan, so that their economy can function on the back of exports to the US market. Without doing so, they would not be able to import goods as nearly cheaply as they have.
The PRC also owes Americans roughly $1 trillion in debt obligations from bonds - primarily denominated in gold - that were sold around the world by the Republic of China it has effectively defaulted on by refusing to pay despite international law requiring successor governments/states to honor the obligations of the governments they succeeded.
In summary, China is asshoe.
Are you saying that the cost to the federal Government has exceeded $2T? How so?
Edit: I'm not counting the stimulus package because that was a decision made by our Government.

There are already tariffs on Chinese goods from the trade war over the last two years. You will see more companies diversify supply chains out of China and bring back production to the US and other countries.
Obvious objective is to direct all blame/responsibility and anger towards China as opposed to what was in our control. Our federal government was woefully unprepared for a pandemic, whereas other developed nations had implemented clear plans and procedures while simultaneously making the necessary investments. It’s clear to me we need a new, competent administration
What developed nations? Italy? Spain? France? UK?
Lindsey Graham voted for one of the most socialist deficit spending stimulus package and now he barks about China paying for it.

USA Today said that the previous administration depleted our N95 mask and refused to replace them. Thank goodness our current administration cut off flights from China and Europe early on, it it would be 100 times worse. The previous administration was all about open borders and wouldn’t have done that.
The Head of the Pentagon 10 years ago, his name alludes me. He worked with many Republican and Democratic administrations throughout his career. He said that without a doubt, that Obama was the most inexperienced President with the most Inexperienced advisers he’d every seen. The guy went on to say that his inner circle struggled mightily making- no brainer decisions.
A true conservative would have stuck with traditionally conservative economic views. All republicans have now admitted they are deficit Keynesians.

That was true 10 years ago. We now have another novice at the wheel meeting the same standard of excellence. Based on qualifications, it's been an uninterrupted downhill slide for the past 30 years. At some point we need to start electing qualified people.
That’s easy to say from the sidelines. And - while I don’t love certain aspects of the stimulus package/wish some things were different - what were they supposed to do? Let the economy fold likely sending not only the US but the world into the worst recession it would have ever seen?
First thing would have been not shutting down the economy before knowing anything solid about the virus.
Not doing any economic stimulus will hurt more on the front end but I firmly believe recovery comes quicker and more stable than when the government tries to manipulate markets.
We haven’t even seen the dominos start falling. Hospitals are asking for bailouts now. How many sectors can the government save?

Appropriately so, he will be able to continue the national parade of leadership decline into the abyss. It was hard to find one worse than BHO, but DJT stepped up (... or down) and kept the continual decline in order, Uncle Joe may be one of the few that could make DJT look better than Buchanan, Hoover or Carter.
Sounds good but there were too many, "unknown unknowns" when staring at a worst case scenario of millions of Americans dead.
I don't me to be pejorative, but there are "known knowns" which are "facts". There are then, "known unknowns" which are called "assumptions" which a plan can be developed to prove or disprove and you can know or expect to know when you can make that determination. Then there are "known unknowns" which are 100% risk.
Based upon what was seen in China and Europe, we had to do what we have done. The potential cost of doing nothing was too great. Too many unknown unknowns.
This may be true but basic economics doesn’t change just because a government forces things to shutdown. If you’re going to shut down people have to understand the cost and financial sacrifices people will have to make. We are trying to prevent pain from a painful decision by implementing very progressive economics that’s has been widely rejected.
If the shutdown was to save people the government wouldn’t be motivated to expand the federal government at the same time. Politicians never let a crisis go to waste.
I’m curious, why do you think Sweden hasn’t been over ran yet without these measures the rest of the world has taken? Even if their outbreak is the same severity as the rest of the world, it has spread slower with less measures. What little data out there right now is showing death rate is closer to .3% and upward of 50% of people show no symptoms. If those hold true a lockdown was never going to do anything.
I expect my government to use valid data before taking away constitutional rights. Constitution never said these rights are only for non emergency times.

I don't know much about Sweden other than they have hot women. In a vacuum, i'd have to assume that the population is more docile, and homogeneous (well, for a little bit until their homogeneity get's dissolved by the huge numbers of muslim immigrants with much higher birthrates than the native populations) . They tend to be more socially conscious and look out more for their fellow man. Death rates might be lower because of the overall health of the populous, and maybe it is the way they are reporting.
We have to have lockdowns in this country because we have a lot of morons in this country with little common sense. Like TI, but bigger. I don't like it either, but it's not unprecedented in times of national emergency. During WWII we had rationing, blackouts, gov't control of industry etc. etc. etc. So far, Trump is doing a good job and not usurping State power. Don't like the response by your governor? Don't like the pandemic preparations made by your State government? Own some of the blame, fellow Citizen. The Federal gov't and administration has some ugly, but it must be evaluated in conjunction with State responses.
The Chinese will send their check for the Corona virus right after Mexico sends theirs for the wall.
So you are telling me that Putting Ivanka in charge of small businesses and letting Jared lead on the drug problems in the US, US infrastructure, the Corona Virus response, oh... and let's not forget peace in the middle east... is better... come on man. Hell, Trump's put a friend in as a Federal Judge (not sure if he got confirmed) that never even got a law degree.. much less passed the Bar.
