Gofundme for our dog

You can give your dog IV’s yourself. I did it for mine. This thread is for idiots.
If the vet was being honest with us, it’s not that simple. She was so dehydrated that her body basically shut down and was limp when I carried her to the car.

Highly, highly recommend pet insurance for this very reason. The peace of mind knowing a deductible is the only expense to keep your pet alive under just about any circumstance, let alone something that may be chronic, is worth it even if you never need it. In my case, I've needed it enough that my dog can live to be 20 before the premiums would even come close to actual costs on vet visits.

I love dogs and I’m terribly sorry what has happened to yours. This, however, is a family matter and should be handled as such.

Did they say anything about rather or not your dog would suffer any long term ailments if she survives?

They said there’s a possibility of her kidneys requiring medication. They also said there is a chance of brain damage, which they said they’re going to monitor as her levels return to stable levels. If they detect that to be the case, treatment will be stopped.

Wish I had been smart enough to get her covered. Never thought something like this would happe. Will definitely have it moving forward.

I appreciate your sentiment. I wish I could keep it a family matter, but I just don’t have the means at the moment. Trust me, I feel like a sleaze ball asking for a handout.

Many Vets can also help you get a pet credit card through Care Credit, but I doubt for that amount. We did this a few years ago for my stepson's dog.

Damn man, that's brutal. I was asking because a buddy of mine had something very similar happen to his husky (she was 5 when it happened) and she was able to live another 7 years with almost the same odds and predicted outcome they've given you.

My wife and I had to put down our 5 year old basset a few months back. They truly are family. Best of luck with Dakota.

We all have vulnerable moments and I would like to think others of us can step in when needed, family or not.
