Time for this old man to shout at the rain. I know, look at me and Deer Facebook and whatnot, but here it is anyway. I think I may be done with college football. This may seem reactionary given the result of the game, but this is something I have been thinking about for a while. Now mind you, I do believe that the players should be getting paid, but it has gotten way out of hand. When a recruit gets paid $10 million before playing a down of football, I have an issue with it. The collectives and booster clubs have morphed the sport into a bidding war. I simply don't believe 18 year-olds should be making life decisions based on money.
The transfer portal has completely ruined any semblance of "team". One of the best things about college football IMO was seeing the freshman and how they would grow and progress through their college careers. Allowing players to transfer as many times as they want has completely negated that. It isn't in the best interest of the team or the player, especially when about half of the players who enter the transfer portal aren't picked up by another team. Also, the coach basically has to re-recruit his entire team each year. Not to mention the players have no stability when they are transferring multiple times. Now, it could be argued that this is their own fault, but this monster of unlimited transfers should never have been created in the first place.
I guess I just don't want to continue to support an institution that, in my opinion, is detrimental, in many ways, to those it is supposed to be helping.

That being said, I will always love Clemson. I will always love the feeling I get when I am there. Forever a Tiger. c/o 2005
