Hamas has been calling for an end for months, though disingenuously. Israel has repeatedly refused ceasefires.

Kind of like Iran releasing all of the hostages minutes after Reagan was sworn into office in 1981.

Which had nothing to do with Reagan and everything to do with their hatred of Carter for supporting the Shah. The Iranians agreed to release the hostages before Regan became President, but intentionally waited as an attempt to embarrass Carter.
