Today was the culmination of about 10 HORRIBLE decisions by Dabo over the last 5 or so years. He needs to own that.
Even before the pandemic/portal/NIL, he bet wrong on the “culture” and exclusivity of a Clemson offer.
He bet wrong on not offering multiple opportunities for campus visits.
He bet wrong on hiring inexperienced former players/staff and putting them in coaching positions.
He bet wrong on being ultra conservative on roster management and preferring walk-ons who have no hope of helping the team.
He bet wrong on dissing the portal.
He bet wrong on dissing NIL.
And here we are.
I’m not sure you could have destroyed this program more if you tried over the last 5 years.
And NOW he’ll pay recruits. And have doors wide open to the portal.
Because he has no choice as he’s been proven wrong at every turn.
