the NCAA by its actions is within 2-3% standard deviation of being completely spineless.
Ive always felt long ago the standard 12+ 2 division model required for a champ game is a complete joke. Why would you adhere to a model where having to be number 1 or 2 and now 3 or 4, DOES NOT produce the highest probability for your entity to be successful? Also, it has singlehanded handedly DESTROYED conference play. It forced the ACC to make permanent decisions to where Clemson plays NCState all the time but we never see the Tarheels.
Seriously, what prevents Bowlsby from saying we are pitting our number 1 vs 2 next year. (I'd say this year but I'm sure they have their final games on championship weekend)
What prevents Swofford from saying we are playing the teams with the best ACC records this year?
I mean really, what can the NCAA do? If they try to do anything, it would only strengthen the death sentence of the NCAA by the Power 5. Time to walk all over them as they have done for years.
Just do it. Just announce it and watch crickets dominate Indianapolis.
